Mom asked about you tonight at dinner.

I almost choked on my food.

She wanted to know if we still talked.

I couldn't bring myself to tell her no, so I simply said you'd been busy with things.

Busy for the last four months, I suppose.

She told me about how she saw you at that café in the middle of town last Tuesday, the fifth.

With a girl.

The same girl that ultimately came between us.

She said that you were sitting right next to her, your arm layered over her shoulder and your face dangerously close to hers.

She said she saw you two kiss.

And I swear my heart broke into a million little pieces.

Of course, my mother didn't know what went down between us, so she didn't know how much those words hurt my soul.

She also told me that you asked about me when she saw you.

How you got up from your seat next to Jasmine and walked up to her.

Just to ask about me.

Why didn't you ask me yourself Liam?

Is it really that hard?

She told me you asked if I was seeing anyone.

To which she responded with a simply 'I don't know. But you should come over some time, we miss seeing you.'

You nodded and told her you'd talk to me about those arrangements soon.

It's been a week. You haven't said a thing to me.

I kind of hoped you would have.

Even a simple, 'how are you?' would suffice.

I wish mom had never brought you up.

It only makes my mind wander and my heart flutter at the thought of you talking to me.

Maybe it's best if you don't call.

After dinner, I walked up to my room and shut the door.

I even locked it, so mom wouldn't come in here and find my wallowing away in my own self pity.

I wish things had been different for us Liam.

They could have, if you hadn't left me for her.

We were best friends for thirteen years.

And you threw that all away for what?

A girl who doesn't know anything about you?

A girl who sleeps with half the football team yet you choose to believe she doesn't cheat on you?
