When Nico first found out that he was going to be sharing his two bedroom apartment with someone else who'd just moved into town, he was furious.

He was even angrier when he actually met the guy he'd be staying with. He'd knocked on the door very obnoxiously, and he didn't stop until Nico opened the door. What happened to a summer of relaxation?!

The newcomer introduced himself as Will Solace, and Nico had just huffed in response.

"So, what's your name?" Will asked, cocking his head like a dog.

"Nico di Angelo," he answered, not making eye contact.

"That's a cool name. Isn't that Italian?"

Nico raised his eyebrows. "Yeah, it is."

Nico could feel Will's eyes on him, so he cleared his throat and said, "Um, I'll show you your room. Let's go."

"Can you help me carry my stuff?"

"No."

Will muttered something in response that Nico didn't catch.

As Will wheeled in his suitcase, carried in his boxes, and set everything in the living room himself, Nico observed the boy.

Will had shaggy blond hair and eyes so blue it looked like they were a piece of the sky. Freckles littered his face. He also had great chest muscles, not that Nico was checking or anything. He was about a head taller than Nico, which angered him. He was always the short one. In other words, Will was pretty much the complete opposite of Nico, who had scruffy black hair and dark brown eyes. He was just waiting for Will to comment on the decor Nico had chosen for the apartment.

Sure enough, he did.

"So I take it you like the color black?" Will smirked.

"Oh, no. I hate black. How'd you come to that conclusion?" He replied sarcastically.

Will grinned. "You're sarcastic. I like you."

"Go away."

"No can do. We're roommates, if you've forgotten so soon."

"Just because I have to share an apartment with you doesn't mean I have to like you. You're going to leave me alone, so I can forget about your existence." Nico finally looked into Will's eyes; they were a mix between confused and hurt.

He didn't say sorry.

"So, where's my bedroom?" Will asked, breaking the silence. Nico hadn't realized he was staring at Will.

Nico led him across the hallway and beckoned to a room on the left.

"My room is on the other side, because I'm always right," he said, pointing to the other room.

Will nodded as he opened the door to reveal a typical bedroom with gray walls and white furniture.

"Depressing," Will commented.

"Paint it if you want, but I'm not helping. Or paying," Nico stated.

Will nodded. "Okay. I'll leave you alone so I can unpack."

Nico didn't look at him as he dashed into his own room across the hall. It was very dark in there; he didn't always turn on the lights.

He flopped onto his bed and put in his earbuds, tuning out Will. He knew he'd have to get used to him, but that didn't mean he had to be happy about it. He'd begun to space off, almost falling asleep, when he heard a crash over his earbuds.

It's that stupid guy Will again, he thought angrily. Can't he be quiet?

Nico sighed and stood up, removing the earbuds from his ears. He walked to Will's room to see the blond boy sprawled out on the floor, books on top of him, as well as all around him.

"What are you doing?!" He exclaimed bitterly.

"Well, I was trying to unpack my books to put on the bookshelf, but I accidentally slipped up," Will snapped.

Nico could tell Will wasn't too fond of his attitude, but he didn't really care as of right now.

After spending a few awkward seconds staring at each other, Will finally broke the silence. "Are you going to help me or not? You can just go away and sulk if you're not going to."

"Don't make me regret this," the black haired boy said as he sat down on the hard wood floor.

Will instantly smiled. "Okay-"

"Please stop grinning so much."

"Why?"

"Why would you smile in the first place? Everything there is to smile about eventually comes to an end."

"Who rained on your parade?" Will asked as he picked up books and started organizing them on the bookshelf. Many of them were medical books. Nico figured he'd talk to Will about those later.

Nico tensed. "Don't ask about that."

Will looked at him worriedly. "O-okay. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here, whether you like it or not."

He didn't respond as he opened a box labeled "Clothes."

Curious, Nico went through it. Some of Will's choices in fashion disgusted him. "It's so...bright." He cringed at a neon yellow shirt with a sun on it.

"Thanks, Sherlock. For pointing out the obvious, and going through all of my stuff."

Nico bit his lip. "It's not like I'm not going to see you wearing these clothes eventually."

Will raised an eyebrow. "You said you were going to pretend I didn't exist, and avoid me as much as possible, remember?"

"It's hard to unsee some of these."

Will rolled his eyes. "Is the only color in your closet black?"

"I have some gray clothes as well."

Will chuckled. "Because that makes such of a difference."

"I'm not changing my looks for you."

"I never said you had to. I just think black is a little depressing," Will commented.

"Yellow and orange remind me of the sun on Teletubbies. I hate Teletubbies."

"Well, I guess we'll just have to deal with each other's choice of clothes then." Will put the last book on the shelf and looked at the boxes that still littered the room. "I didn't realize I had this much stuff. Hey, you wanna order a pizza?" He asked Nico.

"I guess. What toppings do you want?"

"Pineapple."

"Big shocker."

Will flashed a smile at Nico, who turned away. "Goodbye."

When Nico left to order the pizza, Will had a fit of laughter. He didn't even know why. He only stopped when Nico hissed for him to "shut up unless he wanted this day to be his last."

He didn't know how he was going to do it, but he made a promise to himself that he'd brighten up the other boy.

Well, there's the first chapter. Hopefully it was decent enough for you to want to read on. Comments, votes, criticism, and follows are appreciated. Have a great day! Oh, and for those who live in America, happy 4th! What a good excuse to listen to the Fall Out Boy song, "Fourth of July."

Btw, it won't let me add more members to the cast for some reason, so it only has Nico.
