The Opening of Eyes

I never thought there was so much to see,

With eyes open and a new life to reach.

Clarity found through perception,

All we casually beseech.

Through water we see the pebbles,

Smoothed by the ever ebbing tide,

Shifting and sifting along their ways

But never losing their lullaby.

Simplicity found by those who dare not look,

Who dare not gaze, search the open skies.

Yet through the air, there is always a chance at life,

Staying strong, lungs full of a song yet to be sung.

We keep our hearts along a string, perhaps too close

Maybe space is a good thing, time to be restrung.

Yea, there will always be the grace of the fire, temptation oh so sweet.

And the earth will always be firm and strong, forgotten beneath our swift feet.
