The size of the vambraces however is a little too big. Although, if Faelania was telling the truth then they should fit after I strap them to my arms. Excitement once again floods through my body, and my hands start to shake as I place the vambrace onto my arm. Surprisingly, the straps of the vambrace automatically seek the hole at the opposite side of the leather. Pleased, I take the other vambrace and place it onto my other arm, watching as it too attaches itself to my arm.
After a few seconds of waiting the vambraces start to shrink and lengthen in various places, fitting itself to my arm. It is only when I stop paying attention to my arms that I realize that I feel like I am lighter than my actual weight.
The strange thing is, I have felt like this before when I was ten years old. At that time I was walking home from school but every now and then I would jump forwards because I could. A few of the times, before I took that extra step to jump, I would feel lighter, and whenever I felt that I would jump a longer distance than what I would normally do. The feeling of being lighter disappears quickly though after I realized that I felt the feeling before.
Before I could dwell on this however, the bell signalling the end of second period goes off. Knowing that if I wait too long that a line will form at the dining hall, I quickly place the wooden box inside of the cabinet. Afterwards, I quickly remove the books that I do not need from my satchel.
Once done, I head over to the dining hall to see only a few people within. I go and get some food before sitting down at an empty table. It takes a couple minutes for Brian and his friends to enter the dining hall and another few minutes for them to sit down at the table I am at.
“Holy crap, is that your focus? That looks so much better than what I thought it would be!” says Brian.
“I know right, it's so cool.”
“So, what did my sister ask you to do for her?”
“Ask? She didn't ask me to do anything. She saw the situation I was in and gave me the option of leaving class early, so I took it. Also... do you have any idea where Lily is?”
“No,” says Brian, a small frown developing on his face.
After a couple minutes of talking with Brian and his friends, who seemed to be just as amazed at the vambraces as I am, Lily finally enters the dining hall. Although she appears to be accompanied by the same elf that Brian and I had seen her with earlier. As they get closer to our table, I can see that the elf has beautiful green eyes that contrast nicely with her red hair. I am also able to tell that she is roughly five feet, nine inches tall, much taller than I am.
“Everyone, meet the first ranked student of the school. The next in line to the throne of the Elf Kingdom, and a Disciple of Earth magic. Eridel Atuean!” says Lily.
“Lily! Do you really need to introduce me in such a manner?”
“Relax, I'm just teasing. It's fun being with someone of a... similar upbringing.”
“Similar upbringing? If by similar upbringing you include having to learn how to take care of dragons, then yes. We did have a similar upbringing,” says Eridel with a small smirk on her face.
“Well anyways. Brandon, since you enrolled fairly late it is up to us to give you an idea of what the rules are.”
“Okay, though I feel I should properly introduce myself to Eridel. My name is Brandon Chen and I am quite honoured you,” I say before sticking out my hand for a handshake.
“It's nice to meet you too,” says Eridel before grasping my hand.
Almost immediately after Eridel grasped my hand, I feel a warm sensation form throughout my body. It seems that I am not the only one to notice something happening for Eridel stiffens up quite a bit, which means that she knows the meaning to whatever is going on.
Her face turns bright red and as soon as she realizes that she is blushing, she turns around and rushes out of the dining hall. Lily looks at me with a questioning look on her face, so I let her know what I feel by shrugging my shoulders.
Lily pulls a book out of nowhere and gives it to me before saying, “Here, read this. All of the rules for the Academy of Magic are in here. I'm going to go and check up on Eridel.”
As Lily goes off to find Eridel, Brian says, “Okay... well that was weird.”
“Yeah... weird,” I say.
After Lily leaves the dining hall, I quickly put the book into my satchel before going back to eating lunch. When everyone is done eating, I take all of the plates and place them onto the rack before sitting back down at the table. We continue to talk until people start to leave the dining hall, at which point, we get up and go our separate ways.
Both Brian and I, head over to our Arcane Magic class which is taught by a guy around the age of forty-five.
The class is a continuation of what we were doing the previous day, in where we learned an incantation and the practical uses of gravitational magic. Due to how inexperienced we are when it comes to this type of magic we are only trying to make small objects float. I am really excited for this class since this will be the first time I use magic intentionally.
The classes that involve the use of magic is set up differently from the normal classes, those with a higher ranking sits near the back while those with a lower ranking sits near the front. The reason for this is that it is automatically assumed that those who are higher ranked have their rank due to their superior knowledge and skills with magic. Since I defeated Elizabeth and have never fought Lily before, my current rank is second which is the highest in the class, which sucks as even though I have a high rank, my skill with magic is equal to that of a beginner.
Since I have no idea what to do, I am forced to ask the person beside me how I even use magic after the teacher is done teaching. According to them I should be able to easily tell when I can use magic for when I am in a state to use magic as I should be able to feel it within my body. It takes me a couple tries but when I am able to finally reach that state, I notice that it feels similar to when I had first put on the vambraces.
Even though I am now able to reach the state in which I can access magic, it still takes me over a dozen tries to even budge the object that we are trying to make float. From what I can tell everyone is able to already do this, which makes sense considering what happened in Physical Education. The magic used in Physical Education is basically a level above this however the object we are supposed to float is heavier than the balls in Physical Education.
Eventually I start to make some progress, however it occurs right before class ends. I managed to make the object float for a few seconds before it dropped back down. Even though I am only at this level, I am still really pleased at the progress that I made in one class and being able to use magic itself.
Sadly, I am not in the same Elemental Magic class as Brian. Then again his element is fire while mine is air. It was not difficult however finding my class for all I had to do was follow one of the first years that use air magic. Of course, the only reason I knew they used air magic is because they were in one of the fights during the first day of duels.
The Elemental Magic class is fairly interesting for the teacher taught us how to create a shield out of air and how to create a ball. Both the shield and the ball proved to be difficult to create as it took me a while to get the hang of it.
Surprisingly, I was able to create a shield that is a foot in length and half a foot in width. The ball on the other hand was a bit harder as I was only able to create a ball that was five inches in diameter. One thing that I noticed while creating both the shield and the ball is that it is quite difficult to see them. However, the stronger versions of the ones that I created were more visible. Which makes sense since a stronger spell means a thicker shield or a ball with higher revolutions.
By the end of Elemental Magic, I started to feel really tired so I decide to take a nap at my room before dinner. As soon as the bell signalling the end of fourth period went off, I placed everything into my satchel and went to my room. After hanging my satchel on the chair in my room, I kick off my shoes and lie down on my bed.
