For some unknown reason, I find myself anticipating that time. The time in which, at a specific moment, something happens that borders indescribable. Something that is so bizarre, so weird, that if I told anyone else, they wouldn’t believe me.
Just like clockwork, my insides feel as if they are lighter. Well, that or disappear altogether.
A few more moments pass before the feeling passes.
Still, the feeling was definitely stronger than the day before.
Should I let someone know?
No, it’s too early. My parents are still asleep. The best time to tell them would be in the evening, after they come back from work. Of course, I should browse the internet first for these symptoms before letting them know.
Oh well, better get to school.
I double check to make sure that I have my lunch and all necessary items before I leave my house, putting on a pair of running shoes as I leave. I can’t help but look on at envy at my dad’s Hummer as I pass by. Envy because I am unable to drive by myself yet.
Outside is still pretty dark due to the large amount of cloud cover above and the air still smells of what fresh rain can only produce. Both in the street and on the sidewalks are small puddles of rainwater. The walk to the bus stop is fairly quick and thankfully there are no large puddles along the way. Due to how early it is there are only a few people at the bus stop and from what I can tell, none of them attend the high school that I go to.
As I wait for the bus to arrive, I look through the glass of any vehicles that pass by, watching the faces of those inside. It takes a few minutes for the bus to come and when it does, I am glad to see that the bus is fairly empty. It takes nearly a dozen minutes before the bus stops in front of my school, at which point, I get off at the rear exit.
Going with the others, I enter the school and make my way to my locker, walking around those who have decided to stand in the middle of the hallway and socialize. Since the school that I attend is a semestered school, my first period class is something that I have every day, all the way to the end of January.
After placing all of the unneeded books and binders into my locker, I lock it and wait for the bell to ring. As I patiently wait for the bell to ring, I wave every now and then to people that I know. When the bell that signals five minutes to the start of class goes off, I walk across the hall and enter my class.
The interesting thing about this class is that everyone in my grade complains about how difficult it is, when it really is not. The reality of it is that Grade 10 math is a continuation of what is taught in Grade 9. Rules that applied then are rules that are being used throughout the curriculum with the addition of a few other rules. I am, from my knowledge, the only person that does not hate math, and it is not because I am Chinese, as some people like to think.
The only reason I do not hate math is because it is really easy and my teacher gives us plenty of time to finish the work once she is done teaching. The work is simple enough that I am able to finish it a couple of minutes before the period ends, which means that when I go home, I have more time to do what I want.
The period after math is history, which is really boring. Some people in my class like it though due to the material being covered. I personally do not find the idea of a group of people with superior technology massacring those that are not as advanced to be interesting. The course is easy though despite how boring I find it. Luckily there are not a lot of dates that need to be memorized for the tests.
Once the period ends, I go to meet the group of people that I normally hang with. The thing that I like about this particular group of people is that someone always has a deck of cards on them. This means that every lunch we play a card game, changing from Crazy 8’s, Big 2, President, Cheat and Go Fish.
