Chapter one: daddy's helper

Alex's POV:

The sound of the tractor warms me on this cold November day. I love riding the tractor.

"Alex!" I heard my dad yell out over the sound of the tractor, I turned around to see him motioning me to park it and go in for supper

I drove it back to the shed and parked it and ran down the long drive way home. The next morning I heard my dad talking on the phone.

"Ok see you in a little bit" he said as I came out of the house

"Who was that?" I asked as I picked up the basket for the chicken's eggs

"My friend, he'll be here later"

"Ok" I said

I jumped off the bottom step of the porch and went to the chicken coop. I quickly gathered the eggs and put them up. I went to feed the horses and stuff and saw a truck pull up in the driveway. I carried on as usual. After I got done with the horses I went to the shed to work on my go-cart for the race. I walked in and stopped. There was a boy with his back towards me looking at my go cart. I stood there and watched him a minute.

"Like it? I race with it" he turned around quickly and scared

"Oh...um....uh.. Sorry... Your dad sent me down here to find you" he said

I was confused "He didn't tell me anybody was coming"

"I'm his friend Fred Wilson's son"

I knew Fred he was a close friend of my father, but never knew he had a son.

"My names Alex" I said

"I'm Henry" he said

"So are you helping us out?" I asked still a little confused

"Yea"

Ok so guess he's working here now. He keeps looking at the go cart.

"So you like the go-cart?" I asked walking towards it

"Yea, it's really cool" he said bending down to look at it

"I race it"

He looked over at me "You do? Where?"

"At the speedway down town"

"Oh yea, you're-"

"Dynamit Mädchen? Yea that's me"

"You're one of the best racers down there, and you are like the only girl that races!" he said surprised

"Yea, I've never seen you at the track before"

"I'm barely ever there"

Then my walkie went off "Alex did Henry find you yet?" my dad asked

"Yea," I said "showing him around now" I said signing off

I got up "Let's go" I told Henry
