Me asomé por las cortinas del escenario. Mi madre está ahí, mi padre también, pero...él no está...
La persona por la que hago esto, a la que le dediqué todos mis ensayos encerrada en mi cuarto, a la que le iba a dedicar mi canción...simplemente no está.
Puedo ver que mi madre puso su bolso en la silla al lado de ella, apartándole un lugar. Gracias por tu gesto mamá, solo espero que él llegue.
Pasa un número, luego otro, luego otro. Así se va el concurso de talentos hasta que llega el número 19.
Estoy a punto de decirle al presentador, que está también atrás del escenario, que me quite de la lista, que volveré a mi casa, que me di por vencida.
Eso es lo que pienso.
Antes de que pueda decir algo, oigo decir
" Ahora tenemos a la concursante número 20, Ariana" dice el presentador.
Quiero decir que no e irme, pero alguien me entrega un micrófono y me hace subir a empujones al escenario.
No hay vuelta atrás.
Siento los ojos de todos en mí. Los aplausos resuenan en mi cabeza, pero no se siente igual.
De repente, siento algo familiar en el aire y lo busco con la mirada rápidamente.
Pero no lo veo. El asiento sigue vacío.
No se si pueda seguir. Tengo tantas ganas de salir corriendo.
La música empieza. Me siento sola.

Me acuerdo de cómo Chandler me prometió que estaría ahí para escucharme.
Esta canción me recuerda mucho a él, y por medio de ella quiero decirle que no era nada antes de conocerlo, que el es quien ilumina mi mundo. Y que él es con quien cumplo un año.
Me preparo para cantar la siguiente parte, pero otra voz choca con la mía. Y cambia un poco la letra:
"Remember the time I drove all night
Just to meet you the morning"
¡Era él!
Subió al escenario conmigo y los gritos ansiosos de la gente no se hicieron esperar.
"And I thought it was strange you said everything changed
You felt as if you had just woke up

I'm glad I didn't die before I met you
But now I don't care I could go anywhere with you
And I'd probably be happy"
Al final, cantamos los dos la última parte:

- Feliz aniversario Ariana- susurró.
Yo no me pude contener y lo besé.
Frente a todos en el escenario.
Y si esto no gana el premio a mejor actuación musical, no se que voy a hacer...
