30- Giving a chance

"What?" That was their only response to my statement. I didn't say anything back in return. I stared at the two with my arms crossed, waiting for them to take in what I just said. It took them a moment until they realized that I had chosen Kiba. I flinched when Kiba suddenly hooted in pure happiness. He didn't hug me; he simply pumped his right fist in the air with a grin on his face as he faced away from me.

Sasuke was at a loss of words. After realizing that I didn't choose to go with him, he could only stare at me with shock and hurt. He didn't even move once. He could only blink.

He finally had the courage to speak after a few seconds passed. He watched as Kiba stood next to me and took my left hand in his. Sasuke stuttered at first, but he was able to get his words out of his throat. "Wait... why?"

I took a deep breath. I looked away from Sasuke, biting my lip before speaking. "Because Kiba never hurt me intentionally. He was there for me when I was feeling my worst. And unlike you, he actually believed me when I said that Karin was going after you," I slowly looked up at him and shook my head. "He trusts me."

Sasuke nodded, bowing his head down afterwards. "As long as you're happy, Sayuri, I'm okay with it."

Ending that conversation with a smile, we both turned to walk to our seats without looking back.

When I told Sakura and Ino about my decision earlier, they squealed. Actually, their squealing is an understatement. As Sakura pulled me into a tight bear hug, Ino kept going on and on about me making the right choice. Not like I minded, anyway. In fact, I agreed with every single thing she said.

After the last bell rang, Kiba and I agreed to take a walk around the neighborhood before parting ways for the day. When we began walking away from the school, my first instinct was to take his hand and intertwine our fingers, but I chose not to. I waited for him to make the first move, and eventually, he did.

This moment was perfect. We both held hands as we talked about whatever crossed our mind. And to top things off, it was a beautiful winter day; snow fell from the skies, but it wasn't as harsh as it usually was. It was peaceful. Eventually, we had to part ways, but I can't help but not want this moment to end.

An hour later, we decided that it was time to go home. It took us ten minutes until we reached my house, which dreaded me. I sighed, pursing my lips together as I let go of his hand. I figured that this was the perfect time to do what I always wanted to do. Smiling, I stepped in front of Kiba and laid my hands on his shoulders.

He looks down at me, widening his eyes. Kiba blinked a few times before he stutters out a question. "W-What are you doing?"

I laughed. "Come on, Kiba. I'm your girlfriend! You shouldn't feel nervous."

I guess he wasn't used to the big change.

"And besides," I moved my hands over to his neck, making him flinch. "I never got to repay you back for everything you did for me."

I didn't give him enough time to respond back. I quickly stood on my toes and pressed my lips against his. My eyes were closed, so I wasn't able to tell if he was preparing to kiss me back. I thought about pulling away since this was probably making him uncomfortable, but when I felt his hands snake around my waist and pull me closer to his body, I knew that he wanted this.

He pushed his lips against mine with slightly more force before we heard a familiar voice shout at us from afar. We quickly pulled away, and I instantly turned my head toward my house to find my parents standing by the doorway. They were watching us the whole time!

"I guess you found someone who'll truly make you happy," my father shouted out, mischievously grinning at me. "I knew that the Uchiha kid wasn't the right one for you."

Cue my facepalm.

"Hey, you!" Dad shouts out at Kiba. "What's your name?"

He sends my father a weird look as he answers back. "Kiba Inuzuka."

"Huh," Dad looked over at my mother with his arms crossed. "The son of one of your closest friends. Even better!"

Mom sends Dad a glare as he walks back into the house. I furrowed my eyebrows together when her expression quickly changed back into a cheerful one as she looks back at us. "Do you want to come in?"

Kiba shook his head. "My mother's waiting for me at home."

"Alright," she grinned. "Tell her I said hi!"

After parting ways with Kiba, I made my way over to the entrance of my home while Kiba began walking down the sidewalk. I gave my mother a bright smile as soon as I reached her.

Instead of smiling back in return, she smirks. "Do you believe that he's the one?"

I take in a deep breath, nodding. "I do."
