12- Irony

- - - - - -

After the little incident we had inside the car, we ended up just talking about other things. Sasuke and I didn't stay inside of the car for long, though. We eventually got out of the vehicle and began walking down the sidewalk to the school's main entrance. By the time we reached the doors, cars began driving by and the drivers had parked their cars in the school parking lot. 'I guess the teachers and staff are here.' I assumed that it was already seven o'clock, which surprised me because I didn't think Sasuke and I spent so much time inside of the car.

Not much had happened while we waited for the doors to open. Sasuke and I would begin talking again about anything as we leaned onto the brick walls of the school. Occasionally, a teacher would walk by with a bag in hand, and they obviously saw us standing there. They would either ask us why we were here so early or they would wave at us, giving us a grin while they were at it.

After the teachers and staff came the students of Konoha High, but there still were no signs of Ino or Sakura or any one of our close friends. I haven't spotted Karin or Suigetsu around here either. Is that a good thing?

"Looks like the idiot's here..." Sasuke muttered.

I lift my head up, looking around for any familiar faces. I spot Naruto walking down the sidewalk, wearing an orange hoodie and black jeans. He sees us standing by the doors and nods his head to greet us. I give him a sly smile while Sasuke stares at him. As Naruto approaches us, he finally spoke.

"Hey, you guys!" He grinned.

"Hey," Sasuke blankly greeted.

Without a second thought, Naruto takes a hold of my right arm and pulls me toward him, making me squeak. He whispers into my ear, "Are you guys okay?" I nod reassuringly and he finally lets go of my arm, letting me regain my posture.

Sasuke rose his eyebrow as he glares at Naruto. "I hope you know..."

Naruto blinked, his mouth slightly agape. "That?"

"That I saw you at the café yesterday."

'Sh*t.' I widened my eyes as I turned my head to face the door. I gritted my teeth together and hoped that Sasuke didn't know that Naruto was there to spy on him. But at the same time, I was a bit furious at Naruto. He probably didn't hide well enough and gave away his presence with his damn loudness. I resisted the urge to clench my fists and took deep breaths to calm myself down before it was too late.

I saw Naruto fidgeting through the reflection of the glass doors. He was trying to find an excuse for the whole thing. "U-Uh..."

"You were spying on me, weren't you?" Sasuke's voice rose at this point. I tensed up; I really hoped that this doesn't result into another argument. 'Come on! I just got out of a problem!' I sighed in irritation as I turned my head to look back at the two.

Naruto grunted. "Ino and Sakura sent me to!"

I gave Naruto a look. 'Putting all the blame on those two, huh?'

Sasuke scoffed. He stuffs his hands into his pockets as he looks away from Naruto. "Why do they keep butting into my relationship with Sayuri? It's really none of their business."

Naruto rolls his eyes. "I dunno. Why don't you go ask them?"

As if on cue, I see the two girls heading toward the front entrance of the school. Ino and Sakura looked like they were so into the conversation they were having because they didn't notice us standing by the doors. When they finally reached us, they looked up and realized that I was here.

"Sayuri!" Sakura yelled. "Why didn't you wait for us? Huh?"

"Yeah. We knocked twice," Ino crossed her arms. "Your mom had to tell us that you left already. You should have at least given us a call that you were leaving early."

I rolled my eyes. "Sorry. I had last-minute plans with Sasuke."

And immediately, their angry expression turned into an amused one. Sakura laughs as she places her hand on my shoulder. "Why didn't you just say so?"

I smirked as I shook my head. "Shut up."

Naruto just had to get back into the dreaded subject. Out of nowhere, he scowls, bringing up his suggestion once again. "There you go, Sasuke. They're here. Go ahead and ask them."

'Dammit, Naruto. Why can't you just drop the conversation altogether?'

"Ask us what?" Ino blinked in surprise.

I sigh, placing my right hand on my temples as my left arm was wrapped around my stomach. I looked up at the two with my head still bowed down. "They want to know why you guys always want something to do in our relationship."

"Simple," Sakura smiles as she crosses her arms. She looks at Sasuke, and then to Naruto. "Because Sayuri's our best friend, and we want her to be happy. And come on. We can't let her get hurt because of some unfaithful little--"

Ino slaps her hand over Sakura's lips before she was able to finish that statement. "Because that's what best friends are for!"

Sasuke raises his left eyebrow. He watches as Sakura struggles to get out of Ino's grip, while Ino gives him a reassuring smile, ignoring the pinkie. He shook his head. "Right."

"Sasuke-kun!"

I knew that voice anywhere. That dreaded redhead was back. I bit my upper lip as I notice Ino dropping her hand from Sakura's mouth. I could see veins popping out of her temples. As for Sakura, she was pretty clueless right now. All she could focus on was the fact that Ino had shut her up half a minute earlier.

And then a familiar masculine voice came out from the distance. It startled me. "Yuri-chan!"

I snapped my head up. I noticed Kiba coming this way as well. He had that adorable grin on his face as he waved at me. I smiled at him, but after realizing that Karin was right there beside Sasuke now, my smile faltered. Ugh... even after our talk in the car, I still can't push aside this jealousy feeling I get when she's around.

But my smile returned as I realized that Kiba now stood before me. He suddenly pulls me into a warm embrace before I had the chance to greet him. I hesitantly hug him back, and that's when I noticed that Sasuke was looking my way. He surely wasn't looking happy.

When I pulled away from the hug, I turn to look at Sasuke, only to find that Karin had already wrapped her arms around his waist. I stare at Sasuke as I tried my best to not let my mouth drop. After realizing that I was staring at him, he smirks and hesitantly hugs her back. He was still looking at me; Sasuke wanted to see my reaction to this.

Though I was practically raging inside, I ended up rolling my eyes. I gave Sasuke a dazzling smile as I wrapped my arms around Kiba's waist. I surely caught Kiba off-guard by this action. I looked up at him; his eyes were wide open.

My thoughts were cut off as I heard Naruto shout, "It's 7:30 already?!"

I leaned my head forward, seeing that the security guard had opened the school doors already. I took that as a chance to get out of here before my curiousness got the best of me. I didn't want to know what Sasuke was doing to get me fired up. With my arms still wrapped around Kiba's waist, I led him inside of the building while he wraps his arm around my shoulders, squeezing my shoulder with his hand. I figured that Sakura and Ino were already on my trail because of their little chatters.

"What the hell just happened?" Ino started out.

"I thought Sasuke and Sayuri were trying to get each other jealous by acting really friendly around other people," Sakura responded. I hear her sigh. "And now they're walking off with their arms around other people. Oh, the irony."

That was true. We basically walked off with the person the other hated; I mean, I was walking off with Kiba, and Sasuke was off with Karin. It was as if we broke up, but we were still together... weren't we?
