Chapter 32- "The Broccoli Factory"

"Rain"? Faith asked as she walked in and I looked up at her, and stood up straight "Oh Hey, Faith".

She shifted uncomfortably and fidgeted with her fingers as she bit her lip "You're really going home..."?

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair "Yeah, I'm going home".

"But why" She started "Your dad just treats you horribly, and its just going to get worse. Why go back to the place that causes it all? Just stay here".

I offered her a small slight smile "Faith, I'll be fine. And I can't stay here, I don't live here".

"But you're with Ryker" She defended and I chuckled "He's my boyfriend, not my husband. I'm not just going to move into his apartment".

She frowned and I pulled my jacket on and stuck my phone in my back pocket. Ryker came out looking exhausted as ever.

He didn't sleep at all last night, and I felt bad. He was on the phone with the guys all night trying to figure out how to deal with my dad, and he was worried about me all night.

He had bags under his eyes and his hair was messy and he had a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt on, and his face drooped and looked sleep deprived.

Faith hugged me quickly "Text me when you get home" she said and I nodded, and she walked out; leaving Ryker and I.

He walked up to me and took my hands in his and pressed his forehead to mine.

"I told you to go to sleep last night, and you obviously didn't listen" I said and he rolled his eyes "I'm fine, princess".

"Ryk, you look exhausted. Are you sure you don't want me to take care of Zoe today, so you can go get some sleep"?

Leah had to go to some parent-teacher meeting/conference with Reece today, so Leah couldn't take Zoe today.

"Babe, I'm fine" He sighed and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and his eyes bored onto mine, and I blinked a few times and looked down as I knew where this was leading too.

"Rain, please don't-" Ryker started but I shook my head against his and looked up again to meet his eyes "I have to go home. I can't just stay here forever".

"Rain your home is where you get hurt"! He exclaimed in frustration and pulled back from me "I don't understand why you keep fucking going back to the place where all this shit happens"!?

I pressed my lips in a thin line, and closed my eyes slowly for a second before re-opening them, "I need to go. I'll have my brothers".

"Rain, please" He begged and I stood up straight and pecked his lips, and squeezed his hand in reassurance then walking out.

I walked into my dad's den, and I leaned in the doorway.

My heart started to pound faster, and he was reading a newspaper at his desk. I knocked gently on the door with my knuckles and he looked up.

He took his reading glasses off and set the newspaper down slowly, and stared at me with his eyes boring into me.

"Rain" He clenched his jaw "I see you've come to your senses, and are coming to apologize for the way you have been acting out of line, lately".

I swallowed hard and looked down and mumbled "I'm not the one who should be apologizing".

"What"? He snapped with anger rising in his voice, and I stood up straight in perfect posture as I tried to not snap.
