I shift in my seat next to William to look back at Rose who is asleep in her car seat. I sigh turning around. Rose has her appointment with Aunt Maria today.

"I can't believe she's one month old already." William says, taking my hand and kissing it.

"I know." I rely, smiling at him. "Time's flying."

We stop at a traffic signal when my phone starts to buzz in my lap. I check the ID to see that its mom.

"Hey!" I greet her, answering the call.

"Cassy, can you please go to Ella's house?" She sounds frantic.

This worries me. "Mom, is everything alright?"

"Just please go as soon as you can." She says, ignoring my question.

"Give me fifteen minutes." I tell her, ending the call.

William's stopped the car at the road's side and he's looking at me, a concerned look in his eyes.

"Is everything okay?" He asks.

I shake my head, still shocked. "I don't know. She just asked me to go to Ella's house. She wouldn't say anything else."

"Alright then." He says, starting to drive again.

"What?" I ask.

"We're going to go find out." He replies, his eyes on the road.

The best husband in the world is who puts his wife before his own commitments. I know William is supposed to meet some minister in an hour.

"Thank you." I tell him.

He takes my hand and softly squeezes it. "Anything for you."

When we stop at the next traffic signal, William pulls out his phone and calls Harrison telling him to cancel the meeting since he won't be able to make it.

After exactly fifteen minutes William pulls up the driveway and stops the car behind Henry's parked car.

I don't see any sign of mom, so stepping out I call her, she picks up on the final ring.

"Cassandra?"

"I'm here mom. Where are you?" I ask.

"I'm still at my office because Liam and I have to finish editing this draft which is going to get published tomorrow. Ella sent me a text, asking me to come because of something important. I just want you to check and make sure that everything's alright."

"Oh! I'll go check then." I tell her, ending the call.

"What now?" William asks, getting out too.

"I need to go check on her. Can you please get Rose?" I ask him.

"Sure." He says, opening the door and leaning down.

I straighten my shirt as I walk towards the front door. I ascend the stairs and ring the bell. I have to wait for a few minutes before the door opens and the least expected thing happens.

Ella bursts out of the house. Crying. She runs past me down the steps and then turns around as if finally realizing that I'm there.

"Cassandra?" She asks, through the heavy stream of tears.

"Ella what's wrong?" I ask, walking up to her and placing a hand on her arm. "Do you want me to come back inside with you?"

She jerks out of my reach and wraps her arms around herself. "No!" She screams, crying.

"Ella what's wrong?" I ask, now genuinely concerned.

She doubles over crying. I get hold of her shoulders and pull her into my arms. "Ella, please talk to me." I say as I rub her back.
