Chapter 24

Riker snuggled into the bed with his Cars sheets and pillow. He had a Cars blanket and a stuffed Mater that he slept with now. It had been 3 weeks since Riker ran away. Curt had come and visited a couple times and Riker talked to him a little. He'd forgiven Curt, but he didn't trust him again yet. Curt understood though and let Riker take his time. "Mommy can daddy come over tomorrow?" Riker asked Allison sleepily.

"If that's what you want Rike. I'll give him a call okay?" Allion said, kissing his cheek.

Riker nodded. "Otay." He quickly fell asleep after that.

Allison went downstairs and called Curt. "Hello?" Curt answered.

"Hey Curt it's Allison." she said, smiling.

"Oh hey Ally." Curt said, smiling.

"Riker said he'd like you to come over tomorrow." Allison said.

"I'll be there." Curt said, his smile growing.

Allison smiled. "Alright. See you tomorrow Curt."

"See you Ally." he said, and hung up.

Curt smiled as he knocked on the door the next morning. 

"Daddy!" Riker said happily when he opened the door. He gently hugged Curt. He was still hesitant on physical affection with Curt, but Curt understood.

"Hi baby boy. How are you?"

"I good. Mommy got be cars blankie!"

"Did she?" Curt asked with extra excitement. He knew that Allison bought the blanket because he helped pick it out. 

"And mommy said the Matwer from you." he whispered happily.

"It was. Did you like it?" Curt asked smiling.

"I wuv it!" Riker said smiling. "Smells like daddy."

"Hey baby..." Curt said. "Can we talk...about what happened?"

Riker frowned, but nodded hesitantly. "Daddy talk."

Curt sighed. "I promise I didn't mean what I did baby boy. I was drunk, not by choice though. Vanni slipped some alcohol in my coffee at Starbucks when I stopped on my way home."

"Daddy what's drunk?" Riker asked.

"It's when people do stupid and bad things because they had something that made them go crazy."

"Oh." Riker said. "And bad lady give it to you?"

"Yes." Curt said nodding.

"Otay." Riker said, hugging him. "I forgive you daddy."

"Will you come home now baby boy?" he asked holding his breath.

"Yes."
