Annabeth's POV

Stop it. Annabeth thought. You will survive this. She knew that the only way to survive emotionally was to think of all of the good in her life. Percy. But who knows what's up with him? Annabeth honestly couldn't help but be disappointed in him. After all the good he has done for the world, he can't do a good thing for himself? In fact, he's only doing bad for himself. The one thing that killed her the most was that she couldn't do a single thing to stop it. Well, not now. Not in the past. But when Percy and the others find and save them, he was in for it.

She continued to think of the good until it hit her. Annabeth hadn't seen Calypso lately... No. She hadn't seen anyone lately. They had been separated, but why? The odd thing was that she was pretty sure she was the only one who had been caged off other than Piper. Oh, Piper. Annabeth could only imagine what she must be going through right now. The emotional and physical scarring reopening itself again. Reliving a nightmare that could only be inflicted by a sick person. Dylan. The things Annabeth would do to that punk... Another thing to fuel her fire of hope.

But when there's hope, there's doubt. Doubt that anyone really is coming for you, or that you'll make it out alive. That was when Annabeth had to stop. She couldn't bear the thought of going through so much pain just to die at the hands of a coward. She was going to fight her way out of this, ensuring not only hers but the others safety as well. All she had to do was spread this plan, this hopeful plan, and maybe the others can find it in them to fight for their lives.

Annabeth paced around her cell, waiting for something to happen. She didn't even care if it was her daily beating, she was too determined to let whoever it was win. As if on cue, in came one of Dylan's servants. This time, it was a girl. She seemed to be one of those types of people who could be friends with anyone, Annabeth could tell just by the way she held herself. She had that fun aura that you just couldn't help but indulge yourself in. But judging by appearance, she was definitely a girl all the guys go after. Her curly, deep red hair was pulled back into a ponytail, her tan skin visible and she had no shame in that. Her blue eyes radiated joy, but also intimidation at the same time. As if her body wasn't intimidating enough. She was in the best shape imaginable; not too buff, but definitely not weak.

She advanced towards Annabeth but didn't show any kind of desire to physically hurt her. The girl got spitting distance away from her and just laughed. A whole-hearted, genuinely-amused laugh. Once she felt the need to stop, she spoke.

"You obviously don't know how I am. You really are a great girlfriend." The girl began to inspect Annabeth as if she were some prize ready to be claimed.

"Well, I'm Shelli and to be honest, you're really not his girlfriend anymore. I mean, where have you been when he needed you most? Anywhere but where he was. So, I filled in for you. Now, he trusts me more than anybody. Trusts me with all of his deepest, darkest secrets." Shelli whispered the last words in Annabeth's ear, a loud puff of air that struck her almost as much as her words did.

"I know more about him than you ever have. And trust me, there's so much more to him than you could ever know. Too bad you'll never get the chance to. Not because you're most likely to die, but because he most likely will never trust you again." Annabeth gritted her teeth and balled her fists. She knew that Shelli was just trying to bring her down, but she was doing a good job of it.

Keep it together. You will make it out of this. You have to. Annabeth laughed.

"Is that the best you've got? I'm scared, really. What're you going to do, take him away from me? After all we've been through? Go ahead. Try. I dare you." She practically spat out the last words. Shelli looked stunned but quickly recovered.

"Please. I can't take away something you never had. And something I already have." Shelli was not going to bring her down today. Not today. Annabeth did the only rational thing; lunged at her. Though her diet wasn't full of fruits and vegetables, she still felt full of energy and ready to take on anything. Now Annabeth also knew that just randomly fighting wouldn't get her anywhere, so she just had to do one thing. Knock Shellie out long enough for Annabeth to get out of her cell and find the others and book it out of there. Simple, right?

She lunged and grabbed Shelli's shoulders, ready to bash her skull in. And, she did her best to do so. Annabeth pinned her down and shook her shoulders, but not enough to kill her. Maybe some brain damage, minor headaches every now and then. Yeah. That's good.

When she was done, she made a run for it. She had watched servants come in her cage multiple times a day, so she knew that yes, there was a code to the door and yes, she knew it.

Annabeth quickly punched in a four number code: 9-8-7-6. She silently laughed knowing only Dylan could come up with that complex of security protection. The door budged open just wide enough for Annabeth to push past it. She braced herself for the run, a dangerous run. She began her sprint but fell short. She collided with some large figure and immediately fell to the ground with a massive headache. She rubbed her temples, even though it didn't help. Annabeth managed to look up at whatever she hit and it just so happened to be a person. Obviously a guy, they helped her up. She couldn't make out a face but had high hopes that maybe it was somebody on her side.

"They always run. Well, I'm sick of it. I think it's time we make sure you can't run anymore." With that, the man put a hood over her head and her consciousness began to fade.

Annabeth slowly regained her bearings, trying to get a sense of where she was. She was still blinded from her surroundings, but there was an unmistakable stench. A mix of... Maybe something rotten? It was too foul to identify.

All of the sudden she felt hands grab her arms and legs, securing them down. Her right leg was on especially tight though...

"I'm so sorry for this. But I have my orders for those who try to escape the inevitable." While Annabeth was trying to recognize the voice, she felt extreme pain. It felt like something was stabbing her right calf, then she didn't feel it. She couldn't feel the lower part of her right leg. Probably because it wasn't there anymore. So much for an escape plan.
