Chapter 13

Scarlett

Have you ever been in a situation where you can't believe that something has happened because it's too good to be true? A situation where you are hundred percent positive that it happened but you still can't believe it because such amazing things never happen to you? Well I am in one such situationright now.

Even though I had been wet and cold, the warmth of his body had seeped through my skin, causing me to tremble lightly. He had stared at me for what seemed like an eternity. I had been confused as to why he was not letting go ofme. We both had just stood there for a couple of seconds, staring at each other intensely. Then in the blink of an eye, he had crossed the small distance separating us and claimed my lips.

And right now he's kissing me.

I can't believe that Aiden, my best friend, is kissing me.

On the lips.

I freeze as soon as his lips touch mine. The kiss is not too forced; a simple touch, very soft. I just simply stand there as he kisses me. He cups my face in his hands, as he showers me with kisses. I want to reciprocate his actions, but I don't know what to do. I've never kissed anyone before—never. Plus, my body is currently in a state of shock. And I'm not blaming it; not at all. This was completely out of the blue. Never in a thousand years had I imagined this would happen;

His lips move slowly against mine as I simply stand there, motionless. At first a few thoughts were running through my mind. What is happening? What are we doing? But even those thoughts were silenced when he started kissing me more intensely.

I feel butterflies swarm my belly. My heart is beating so fast. I'm only aware of one thing, and one thing alone—Aiden. The only thing I can feel are his lips. Everything else vanishes. His hands run down my back and land on my hips; leaving behind a trail of blazing fire, igniting my skin.My thoughts don't make sense anymore. Nothing makes sense anymore. I can't think. He has taken over my body, soul and mind. I feel euphoric.

A few seconds later, he stops kissing me; I start panicking, because I don't want him to stop. But I know he will eventually, since I'm not even responding. So, for the first time ever, I kiss him back.

Like I said, I've never kissed anyone. So I don't know if I'm even doing it right. Aiden has kissed so many girls, and I'm completely inexperienced. But I don't let that faze me. I kiss him back with all I have, pouring all my feelings through that single kiss.

I'd never understood why people enjoyed kissing. I'd also thought that swapping saliva with someone is slightly disgusting. But then, I'd also never known it felt like this. This...what is this? I can't explain. But it's everything I never knew I wanted. I never want to stop.

But stop we do. A few minutes later we both break the kiss, stepping away from each other. We gawk at each other, wide eyed. "What...was...that?" I murmur, not able to grasp what happened.

"I...don't...know?" He says uncertainly. He looks a little flustered, and there's a nervous edge to his usually smooth and confident voice.

He doesn't know? He fucking kissed me and he doesn't bloody know?!

I try my best to calm myself. I still feel a little breathless from the kiss we just shared. It's taking me a lot of effort to breathe, and my heart? It's beating faster than it has ever before; so fast that I'm scared it'll jump out of my chest.

And in the midst of all this confusion and chaos, I realize with a start that I, Scarlett Stevenson, just had my very first kiss. I bring my fingers to my lips and touch them, not able to believe it. I look up at Aiden, and see confusion written all over his face. My heart jolts inside my chest. What if—what if he regrets doing this?
