But this time she was determined, more than determined. She was desperate; desperate for help and advice which she highly believed that her mentor could only be the one to give.
Evanna wanted answers from Draco but did not know how to get them out of him in a decent yet forceful manner. And she alleged that her mentor friend was the one to call for aid.
Evanna hurriedly yet quietly ran to her dorm and pulled out a quill, a clean piece of parchment and an ink bottle and with all her supplies she returned back to the common room which was still empty with a thick silence in the atmosphere.
This is what Evanna wrote;
Greetings my cherished mentor professor,
It has been a long time since I last wrote to you. I hope you are at the best of your health. I am fit as well.
Your last advice worked wonderfully well, like your all other advices. Mother was happy and had forgotten all about her worries for at least a month...
I will not waste more of your precious time and get straight to the point.
Life has been quite hard for a long time now, especially this year is the worst. A lot of problems have gone by so far, unsolved.
The main is yet to be answered and I do not have much time. My brother is up to something, something immense and immoral. I know for sure but what I want to make certain is that what is he really doing as he is hiding it from all. This also involves an unbreakable vow and one of the professors so I know that all my doubts that I have been having is true... to some extent.
I will be honest; I am in denial and I am scared. I have never been this much confused before and this much fearful of an answer in my whole sixteen year old life. I do not want to see him as an evil being because he is not. I fear that his family, which I am no more a part of, has a big role to play as he would never agree to such evil of a thing if he is left alone to choose.
Help me to decide what I should do! My only choice is to spy on him and loose the trust that he has regained on me...I do not want this...
Yours obediently,
A student......
Evanna read and then re-read the letter she had just written. It was quite clear from her letter that she wasn’t really obvious about what she was asking help for but she would still go for sending it. She knew that her mentor would understand what she was asking even though she did not know herself.
Crack
Evanna jumped at the sound of apparition as a house elf started humming and cleaning the couches. It was obvious the house elf had not noticed her presence. To Evanna’s joy she thought that it was Dobby.
“Dobby!” Evanna exclaimed but still not too loud as the whole Gryffindor house was sleeping upstairs in their dorms.
The house elf froze in between cleaning the two couches near the fire place. He slowly turned around towards Evanna and looked at her with horror struck expressions.
Even though the house elf looked a lot like Dobby from the back but he wasn’t Dobby. This elf had a crooked nose but besides his crooked nose and horrified expressions; he still looked quite friendly and unlike Kreacher.
“Oh, you’re not Dobby! Well, don’t worry and carry on! I know house elves come here to clean and organize our stuff and I must say thank you for doing it. Don’t be scared. Carry on!” Evanna’s kind words did put a great effect on the elf and his expressions changed, yet slowly, into relaxed ones and he turned back to the couches he was cleaning where Dean had previously spilled a whole bottle of ink, with ease.
Evanna returned to her letter now thinking of a way to send it to her mentor. She wanted to send as soon as possible and she would have loved if the letter would have been sent straight away as she knew that her mentor took his time to reply.
Just as she had started to consider sending her letter by this house elf who had now reached the stairs that led up to dorms;
Crack
And in view came a very similar elf with a feather duster in his hand; Dobby!
“Mistress!” he exclaimed loudly and then started slapping himself for doing that.
“Dobby stop slapping yourself!” –he stopped just as she said it- “listen, I know I’m in no more authority to order you around and...”
“Mistress can order around Dobby as much as she wants. Dobby is a free elf and he chooses to listen to Mistress Evanna so she can order Dobby to do whatever she wants him to do,” Dobby stated with great enthusiasm, his big eyes shining brightly in the light of the fire.
“That’s great!” Evanna said more to herself and then spoke to Dobby, “I want you to take this letter,” she handed him the letter which she had now sealed, “just take it to Snowbell and tell her that Evanna wants her take it to her mentor and she’ll understand.”
Dobby apparated right away just as Evanna finished her sentence. Even though Evanna was not fully sure if Snowbell would understand it or not but she had to believe that she would understand. That was her only hope; belief.
Evanna realized that she was feeling sleepy herself and straight went back to her dorm; saying good bye to the house elf who had now reached the corridor which had doors leading to the dorms, and she wished and hoped that her mentor would reply as soon as possible because she was in a desperate need of help.
