I looked around, turning my head in every direction to look for whoever was drawing nearer, but I saw nobody.
Was it just my brain playing tricks on me?

I finally turned back to Dan, the concerned expression never leaving his face.

Then I saw it.

A dark figure, shadows looming over his features and completely covering his face. I looked up at him, then back at Dan, quickly realizing the man, or whatever it was, was creeping up right towards Dans turned back.

The figure also seemed to have something in his hand, but it was hard to tell what it was in such dim lighting. He kept getting closer to us, and once I could make out what the object was, I swear my heart stopped all together.

A gun.

I started to panic, forgetting even to breath as I stared helplessly at the monster who could take my husbands, my kids or even my own life at any moment he pleased. Despite the blanket of shadows covering his face, I could tell he was smiling, knowing he had full control over me and my family.

All of this stress, I couldn't handle it. My head started pounding even harder, there was ringing in my ears and I could feel myself getting weak.

'Dan... n-no... he has t-to... he has to move...!' I said to myself, getting my thoughts together at last.

I looked back up at Dan, noticing the man had stopped just a few steps behind him. I could tell he was looking at me, glaring at me with those evil eyes.

I continuously called to Dan, trying over and over again to warn him. Winnie and Hazel were calling to him as well, but he couldn't hear us. It was almost as if there was an invisible wall between us, preventing Dan from hearing our cries.

The man just laughed at us, almost as if to say 'Do what you want, it's not going to help him.'

The next few seconds I swear went in slow motion.

The man took his last few steps towards Dan as I sank onto my knees, tears spilling down my cheeks like a waterfall off of a cliff.

He pulled Dan back by his hair, pushing the gun barrel against the side of his head and flicking the safety off. The man smiled wickedly at me as I heard him pull the trigger, and then-

"(Y/n)!"

My eyes shot open as I inhaled sharply, my heart beating a mile a minute. I exhaled through my mouth, my breath unsteady and shaky.

I turned my head towards Dan, who was lying in bed next to me propped up on his elbow.

"You were crying in your sleep again." Dan whispered, gently wiping away some tears on my cheek.
"Are you okay?" He asked, taking my hand in his and lacing our fingers together.

I let out another big sigh before scooting closer to him, burying my face in his chest and wrapping my arms around his body. Dan smiled softly, leaving a kiss on the top of my head and snuggling into the bed with me. I fell asleep again, feeling much safer in his arms.

I opened my eyes slowly, only to snap them shut again from being blinded by the bright sunlight seeping in through the window.
I turned to face Dans side of the bed, only to find he wasn't there. Just as I was questioning where he was, he walked in the bedroom door.

"Oh hey, you're awake." He said, coming over and sitting on the edge of the bed. "I just came in to tell you that I'm going to bring the girls to school."

"Shouldn't I come with you? You know Hazel doesn't like going to class without both of us there." I mentioned, sitting up and leaning against the headboard while rubbing my eyes.
