The evening air was crisp as Han Wool's car slowed to a stop in front of the hospital entrance. The streetlights flickered on, casting a soft glow over the nearly empty parking lot. He scanned the surroundings carefully, his usual playful demeanor temporarily replaced with sharp attentiveness. Only when he was sure that no one suspicious was lurking around did he finally relax.
"Alright," he exhaled, his hands still resting on the steering wheel as he turned to look at me. "You're safe."
I unbuckled my seatbelt, stretching slightly before reaching for the door handle. "Thanks for the ride."
Just as I was about to push the door open, he suddenly spoke, his tone light and almost childlike.
"I think you forgot something."
I paused, glancing at him. "Huh? What did I forget?"
He tilted his head, his lips pressing together in a way that made it clear he was waiting for me to figure it out.
I blinked. "No, I don't think I did..."
Han Wool exhaled dramatically, his fingers tapping against his lips in an exaggerated manner. "Are you sure?"
I frowned slightly, pretending to think. "Hmm... I have my bag, my phone, my coat... No, I don't think I forgot anything."
His lips parted slightly as if in disbelief, and I could almost see the gears in his head turning. He let out a small huff, leaning back against his seat. "Unbelievable."
I bit back a smile. "What is?"
He folded his arms like a sulking child. "Nothing. It's fine. Don't worry about it."
I chuckled. "Are you sure?"
He looked away dramatically. "Yeah. It's not like I was expecting anything."
I feigned innocence. "Expecting what?"
Han Wool groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Oh my god."
Biting my lip, I turned toward the door again. Just as I reached for the handle, I let out a small hum. "Ah... I remember now."
Han Wool immediately perked up, his eyes lighting up. "You do?"
I turned back toward him, slowly leaning in. "Mhm."
His smile grew. "So, you finally-"
Before he could finish his sentence, I grabbed the collar of his jacket and pulled him toward me, pressing my lips to his in a deep, slow kiss. He inhaled sharply at the suddenness, but it didn't take him long to respond. His hands instinctively reached for my waist, pulling me even closer. The kiss was soft yet desperate, as if we both wanted to stretch this moment as long as possible.
When I finally pulled away, he was breathless, his forehead resting against mine. "Damn..." he whispered, his voice rough. "You really waited until the last second, huh?"
I smiled, brushing my thumb against his cheek. "I had to keep things interesting."
He let out a small laugh, his fingers grazing my wrist before reluctantly letting go. "You're dangerous, Ye Na."
I grinned. "You love it."
"That, I do." He leaned back slightly, eyes locking onto mine. "Text me when you're free?"
I nodded, opening the car door. "I will."
Just before stepping out, I glanced back at him and whispered, "I love you."
His expression softened instantly. "I love you too."
With one last smile, I shut the door and turned toward the hospital entrance.
