I woke up slowly, my body heavy with exhaustion. My eyes burned, swollen from all the crying, and my throat felt raw. Sunlight peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow in my room.

For a second, I forgot everything.

Then it all came rushing back.

The hospital. The accusations. The way no one believed me. The way I had broken down in an alley.

I exhaled, rubbing my face.

A sound came from outside my room—laughter, the clinking of plates, the faint hum of a conversation.

I frowned. Weren’t they supposed to be at the hospital?

Dragging myself out of bed, I stepped out into the hallway, following the sound.

The sight that greeted me in the living room made me pause.

Seok Kyung and Ha-ya were there, dressed in their casual clothes, sitting around the dining table, completely at home. The table was filled with food—pancakes, eggs, toast, fruit, even a steaming bowl of soup. The air smelled like butter and something sweet, like they had actually made breakfast instead of just ordering takeout.

I blinked. “You’re here?”

Ha-ya turned, grinning. “Look who finally decided to join the living!”

Seok kyung smirked. “We were about to check if you were still breathing.”

I frowned, crossing my arms. “Aren’t you supposed to be at the hospital?”

Seok Kyung waved her spoon dismissively. “We took a leave.”

I stared at them. “You—what?”

Ha-ya shrugged. “We wanted to make sure you didn’t wake up and spiral into an existential crisis alone.”

“I’m fine,” I muttered, sitting down.

Seok Kyung raised an eyebrow. “You sound terrible when you lie.”

Ha-Ya leaned forward. “Seriously, Ye Na, we’re not leaving you alone in this. We’re doing everything we can to collect evidence against Dr. Jang. The nurses are on our side, and we’ve already started digging up things from his past.”

Seok kyung nodded. “And trust me, there’s a LOT to find.”

I swallowed, warmth blooming in my chest.

I had spent so much time feeling alone, but here they were—choosing to stand with me, refusing to let me fall apart.

Ha-ya clapped her hands. “Okay, enough heavy talk. Time to eat!”

Seok Kyung grabbed a bowl of soup and placed it in front of me. “Homemade. Just for you.”

I sighed but picked up my spoon. “You guys didn’t have to do all this.”

Ha-ya gasped dramatically. “Excuse me? We are the BEST friends you will ever have. You should be thanking us.”

Seok kyung grinned. “Yeah, where’s our gratitude speech?”

I rolled my eyes but felt a small smile tug at my lips. “Thank you.”

Seok Kyung smirked. “That’s better.”

Ha-ya leaned closer. “Now eat up. We need you at full strength for our revenge mission.”

I let out a small laugh, shaking my head.
