Harin's eyes narrowed slightly, clearly unconvinced.
Han Wool, on the other hand, had the audacity to sip his tea like he wasn't the cause of my near-death experience just now.
My mind raced for an escape route, and then I saw my chance-the kitchen.
"I'll go help them," I blurted out, pushing myself up from the couch so fast it almost looked unnatural.
Han Wool's smirk vanished instantly. His face screamed, No, don't leave me here.
But I was already walking away.
I didn't miss the way his shoulders slumped as I disappeared into the kitchen.
I stepped into the kitchen, and the moment I did, the conversation between Han Wool's mother and Harin's mother came to an abrupt stop.
My steps faltered slightly. Great. Just great.
Did I just interrupt something juicy?
I forced a small smile. "Did I disturb you guys?"
Han Wool's mother was the first to speak. "No, dear," she said kindly, though I could sense something unreadable behind her gaze. "We were just talking about tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" I asked, stepping further inside.
"Yes," she nodded, smiling brightly. "We're planning to go buy a wedding dress for Harin."
My stomach dropped.
It shouldn't have hurt to hear it, but it did.
Han Wool. My Han Wool. Even if I can't do anything in this situation.
If only I had superpowers...
I forced my lips into a smile. "Oh, really? That's so nice," I said, stepping towards the fridge to distract myself. I pulled it open, grabbed a bar of chocolate, and unwrapped it with more force than necessary.
Han Wool's mom's voice pulled me back. "You know what, Ye Na? You should also come."
I almost choked on the first bite.
She continued, oblivious to my internal horror. "After all, you're Harin's favorite sister."
I nearly laughed at the absurdity. Harin's favorite sister? Yeah, right. The same Harin who would probably throw a fit just seeing me near Han wool.
Still, I played along, plastering a sweet smile on my face. "Why not?"
The moment the words left my mouth, Harin suddenly appeared in the kitchen, her perfectly styled hair bouncing with each step.
"Oh, there you guys are!" she said, flashing one of her over-the-top smiles. "Come to the hall. They're discussing the house design!"
My grip on the chocolate bar tightened.
What the fuck.
They even started planning their house together?
I took a deep breath, forcing myself not to react.
If you guys really live together, I swear to God, I'll burn that house to the ground. Mark my words.
Completely unaware of my murderous thoughts, Harin grabbed both moms by the arm and dragged them out of the kitchen, their excited voices fading as they left.
And just like that, I was alone.
I let out a long, exhausted sigh.
Slowly, I leaned against the counter, nibbling on my chocolate as I stared at nothing in particular.
