I blinked, looking up. "Hm?"
"If you're not busy, let's go out for a bit," she said. "I need to do some shopping, and we didn't seem like spenting time together."
I hesitated for a second before shaking my head. "I'm busy today."
Her brows raised slightly. "Oh? Then how about in the evening?"
I tapped my fork lightly against my plate. "Evening, too. I have plans."
Aunty scoffed lightly, setting her spoon down. "Why are you so busy? Is it hospital work again?"
I took a sip of my water, my next words slipping out so casually I didn't even think twice.
"No. I have a date."
The reaction was instant.
Han Wool's spoon stopped midway to his mouth.
His fingers slightly tensed.
And then, slowly, he turned his head toward me, eyes meeting mine across the table.
I stared back, unwavering.
"Oh, really?!" aunty beamed, clearly thrilled. "You finally started seeing someone?"
I nodded, a small smile curling at my lips. "Yeah."
Her eyes twinkled with curiosity. "Is he handsome?"
I tilted my head slightly, feigning thoughtfulness. "Hmm. I think so."
"Did he propose to you already?" she teased.
I chuckled. "It's our first date today."
Across from me, Han Wool slowly turned back to his food.
But I noticed the way he moved a little slower.
The way he was chewing a little too carefully, as if his mind was somewhere else.
And then-
Harin suddenly perked up, her curiosity spiking.
"Oh my God! Ye Na, you're dating? Why didn't I know about this?"
I shrugged. "It just happened recently."
She leaned in, eyes gleaming. "Where did you meet him?"
I sipped my juice, playing along. "We were classmates back in university."
Harin gasped. "So he's a doctor?"
I sighed slightly. "Maybe."
Han Wool's fingers tightened around his chopsticks.
"Is he older? Younger?" Harin continued. "What kind of guy is he? What does he look like?"
I let out a laugh. "Why are you so interested?"
She must be happy, bitch.
"Just because. U know, its a good news!" She put that stupid smile on her face. "You should introduce him to us".
"He has works to do, he is busy".
"And still he find time for you? He must be a good guy". My aunty said, happiness visible in her face.
I shove the last bite of toast into my mouth, chewing quickly as I push my chair back.
"I'm going now."
I don't wait for anyone to respond. I just stand, grab my bag, and walk straight to the door. My movements are steady, deliberate, like I'm totally fine. Like I didn't just wake up with a hole in my chest after what I saw this morning.
