My heart stops.
Han Wool.
I grab my coat and practically run out of the office, ignoring Seok Kyung’s weird look.
The department is bustling with doctors and nurses, patients moving in and out, the air filled with a mixture of antiseptic and stress.
And then I see him.
Han Wool sits on one of the beds, looking thoroughly unimpressed, one arm resting on his knee while the other hand is wrapped in a small bandage. His gaze flicks up lazily as I approach.
I stop in front of him, swallowing. "What happened to you?"
He lifts his injured hand slightly. "Nothing. Just a tiny cut."
I frown. "How did you get it?"
His lips twitch, almost like he’s holding back a smirk. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
I exhale sharply, already irritated. "Then why are you even here?"
"Hospital policy. Got dragged in here by my friends because I ‘bled too much.’” He rolls his eyes. "Idiots."
Typical.
I glance at his file, but before I can say anything, his brow furrows.
"Wait." His eyes narrow. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in the operating theater or something?"
I freeze.
Right. I technically don’t belong in this department. I scramble for an excuse. "Uh, well, I— I’m just, um, checking on things."
He raises an eyebrow. "Checking on things?"
"Yeah," I nod a little too fast. "It’s… uh, routine."
"Routine?" He gives me a blank stare.
I clear my throat. "Forget that. Let me treat you."
His expression turns skeptical. "No thanks."
"Why not?"
He shrugs. "I already got treated yesterday. I think I’ve had enough of your… care."
I grit my teeth. Oh, so we’re bringing up yesterday now.
"You make it sound like I tortured you."
"You did torture me," he replies. "Indirectly".
I sighs, shaking my head.
I cross my arms. "So? Do you want me to treat you or not?"
He sighs. "Fine. But make it quick."
I step closer, reaching for his injured hand, but my gaze flicks toward his abdomen. My heart pounds.
This is it.
I need to see.
"Take off your shirt," I say.
Silence.
Han Wool blinks at me. "Excuse me?"
I force a nonchalant look. "I need to check for any infections. It’s standard procedure."
He stares at me like I’ve lost my mind. "For a hand wound?"
"Yes," I lie through my teeth.
"You're a terrible liar."
"Shut up and take it off."
His lips twitch upward in amusement. "Wow. Are you always this much of a pervert?"
