"Do you have no manners? I don't want your gross mouth all over my straw, I don't know where it's been."

"Sharing is caring" he smiles widely to me.

"Yeah I don't trust that" I smile.

"Do you trust anything?"

"Not from you, no."

We both go back to silently eating our food. It wasn't an awkward silence, just something in the air while we sat together.

"Can I ask you something?"

I look at him with confusion, what was this sudden change in mood?

"Yes?"

"Why did you go out with Aaron?"

"I don't know I guess I was desperate" I laugh.

"Seriously though, why?"

I take a minute to think of how to put my answer.

"In freshman year, I had the fattest crush on him. I mean I was just head over heels for the guy" I explained.

"Oh I remember" Pacey notes.

"I guess I just wanted to fulfill something for that girl that really liked him. It's not like I actually like him anymore, I was just remembering how I felt back then."

"So why did it affect you that much if he didn't mean much to you this year?"

"It was just all of the buildup to it. I got all nice and dressed up. My friends helped me out. I got dropped off in the hopes I would get a ride and a kiss in his car. And the freshman girl still inside me was heartbroken to know the kind of guy he is."

"Yeah us guys tend to do things like that."

"It's unfortunate that boys act so gross to girls. I mean they do things like that, make girls cry, they cheat."

I look over to Pacey when I say this and am so scared.

"Oh my god Pacey I should not have said that, I am so sorry" I tell him while I think about how the Andie situation.

"It's okay" he laughs out of pity and quiets down.

We stay silent for a second until I decide to ask him questions.

"Pacey, I mean this with total respect, but how are you doing with Andie around now?"

He gulps and thinks for a second. "I don't really know, it's weird. Confusing really. I mean when she got here again, I was really hurt every time I saw her. She was the girl that broke my heart. But now that I've seen her enough, I think I've become more content to the notion that she lives here again. I mean she really hurt me daphne" he says looking at me in the eyes. "But things like that happen, I just have to go on with my life."

"I really am sorry that happened Pacey" I say touching his shoulder. "And I'm sorry I said that."

"It's what I get for joking about not hearing you over your crying" he laughs.

"No" I laugh. "You got the punch from Dawson for that."

"God why did it have to be you that saw that? I mean I don't think anyone else would give me so much crap for getting punched" he laughs.

"Well who knew? Pacey, the cold hearted stud, has a heart filled with emotions?"

"And who knew that Daphy, the wicked witch of the west, has human empathy?"

"Hey at least I called you a stud, you didn't have to call me a witch" I argue.

"It just made sense to me" he says sipping on my milkshake.

I scoff, but just end up laughing instead of fighting back.

We spent a good while eating and talking in that parking lot until it got really late.

He dropped me back off to my house, although I do need to get my car back from school at some point.

"You owe me a car ride back to my car tomorrow" I tell him as I walk to my door.

"You bet cute wicked witch of the west" he yelled to me as I got to the door.

"Much better" I yell back and go inside. He drives off as soon as I get inside.
