All along there were an invisible string tying you to me

It was the end of the day and I had nothing to do, debate was cancelled.

I thought about maybe going home and practicing my routine, but mom is still in town and her stuff is still in the room. I could not practice there.

Maybe there was homework for me to do, but I finished.

I could go home and read, but what would I read?

Jen was with Henry, Joey with Stephen, Jack figuring out things with his dad. Dawson is away for some sort of film thing, so I couldn't hang out with them.

I hear a truck engine roll up behind me.

"What are you doing out of debate" Pacey asks in a jokingly stern voice.

"It was cancelled" I tell him.

"Lucky for me" he says. "I could use help on my boat" he smiles and winks.

"Who said I would help you?"

"What else do you have to do? This wasn't part of your plan today, so time to improvise."

"Fine" I say getting into his truck. "Let's go" I say dramatically. "But we are stopping by a store or something so you can buy me something."

We get to the store and he walks in reluctantly.

"What am I getting you" he asks. "Something hopefully cheap?"

"I'll try to make a dent in your pocket" I smile.

I go to the drinks and grab myself a coke. He grabs a bag of chips and some sprite.

"Wait that's all you're getting" he says shocked.

"I'm not that hungry, but I'm super thirsty" I tell him.

"Okay, but I'm willing to buy anything. Emphasis on anything for you."

"I'll be fine. Come on Witter, pay for my things."

"What's the magic word?"

"Please" I say blankly.

We go up to the older woman working.

"You know if I were you Miss" she told me. "I'd make him buy like half of this stuff. Really put a dent in his wallet."

I laugh at this. "I was tempted to, but I want to save his money for future purchases I force him into."
