You leaned against the checkout desk, flipping through pages of a book and sipping your coffee. A boy about your age comes clattering in, talking aggressively into the phone pressed to his ear. You look up, eyebrow raised and he waves awkwardly before disappearing into one of the aisles of books. After sometime he reemerges with a stack of books in his arms that he was struggling to carry. He dropped them on the counter, almost knocking over your coffee.

"Is that all?" You ask sarcastically, counting eight books of various colors and types, but all pertaining to Werewolves.

He put his hands on his hips, "Yeah, I think so. Any recommendations? I feel like I went a little overboard.

Right after he said it he looked a little deflated, like you would just give him a look like he was crazy and check him out. But you twisted the covers so you could get a better look, picking a couple out of the stack and holding them up.

"These authors are more commercial. They just want to shock you." You explained, then gestured to a few more, "These are good. I would suggest grabbing something more mythology based. They're farfetched, but have a good base to them."

He looked dumbfounded, stumbling over words, "Yeah, okay great!"

He helped you put some books away and pick out some other ones. You talked out some of the things he knew versus what he would want to know and ended up narrowing down his needs to two books that seemed like had most of the information he needed, werewolf and otherwise.

"You know a lot about this stuff, don't you?" He was sizing you up and he you shrugged.

You gestured to the other side of the store that held crystals and some other "magical" tools, "It's my Aunt's store. This kind of stuff has been passed down. All the myths and legends and magic."

"So," He slid his money across the counter, "you believe in all this?"

"I wouldn't say that." You nodded to his books, "I believe in a lot of crazy things, but werewolves and vampires and fairies? I'd have to see that to believe it."

"You believe in using cards to read your future, but not that people can turn into monsters?" He smirked, "Makes sense to me."

"I'm glad you understand." You winked and he laughed, walking out of the store with one last long look before disappearing.
