Solangelo One-shot: Pride Parade

It was officially pride month, and Will wanted to do something with his boyfriend of eight months. 

He would have offered to go to a pride parade, but he knew Nico would hate the crowds of strangers. So he thought of a plan.

A week before, Will had asked for permission to carry out his idea. Chiron thought it was a wonderful idea, and that many LGBTQ+ campers would love it.

It took much time to prepare, though. 

Will enlisted the help of a Korean Iris camper, Ji-Yoon. After many bouts of squealing about how cute 'Solangelo' was, she had said yes. (If you haven't noticed by now, this camper is me lol, except that's not my name)

Ji-Yoon and her siblings put rainbows in the air, symbolizing gay pride, and they painted pride flags. This was all done in the early morning before any other campers could wake up and see. 

"All done," Ji-Yoon said, her multi-colored eyes sparkling.

"Thanks," Will said, addressing the whole Iris cabin. 

"No problem," they replied. Since Cabin 7 and 14 were close (rainbows can't appear withour the sun, after all), they ocassionally did each other favors like this. And Will was sure Nico-and the other gay campers-would love this.

There were a surprisingly large amount of LGBT people in CHB. Malcom(queer), Piper (bisexual), Paolo (gay), and many more. Who knew, maybe there were gays out there who hadn't come out yet.

When Will had told her his idea, Annabeth had been delighted, and she had promised to invite her cousin, Magnus, who was apparently pansexual, and his boyfriend/girlfriend Alex Fierro, who was genderfluid.

Nobody was truly straight, Will reflected. (Oh my gods the Nobody thing is killing me)

"Hey, Neeks!" Will said cheerfully, sliding into Cabin 13. "Wake up!"

Nico grumbled and sat up. "I was having this really good dream where-" Seeing Will's amused face, he broke off grumpily. "Don't look at me like that!"

"Like what?" Will said innocently. "Anyway, get up! Today's a special day."

"Whyyyy?"

"It's Pride Day." Will waited for his boyfriend's reaction.

"So what?" Nico tried to remain chill, but Will could sense that the son of Hades was excited.

"I have a surprise for you Death Breath-"

"Don't call me that!"

"-so come on!"

"Alright Care Bear, give me a sec."

Will smiled at the nicknames and stepped outside. What he saw was amazing. 

It hadn't been fully light outside when they had finished decorating, but Camp Half-Blood was an amazing sight. Rainbows hung suspended in the air, and pride flags were positioned all around the cabins. Early risers were already up, and staring at the transformed camp in wonder.

Camp Half-Blood wasn't just a camp for demigods now. It was a camp where you could be accepted for who you were.

Nico stepped outside, looking as adorable as always in a black hoodie and equally black skinny jeans. His mouth dropped, and he stared around. "You did this all for me?" He seemed in shock, which confused Will. Of course he had done it for him; he loved Nico! They had gone through literal hell together.

"Of course, Death Boy. Well, it wasn't just me; it was all of us." Will swept his hand around at the other campers. "It isn't the '40s anymore, Neeks. We can be accepted!"

A slow smile appeared on Nico's face. "Accepted," he mumbled. "Yeah, that would be nice."

Will smiled at his boyfriend. "But those colors don't really go with the theme..."

Nico groaned as his black clothes suddenly turned rainbow. "Seriously?" He turned towards Cabin 14. "Were you eavesdropping?"

No answer.

"Fine," he huffed.

"I think you look adorable in those colors," Will teased.

Nico sighed. "Will-"

"Can you turn my clothes colorful too?" Will asked the thin air.

His clothes immediately switched to blue, purple, and pink: the colors of the bisexual flag.

Will grinned at Nico. "We match!"

 "Shut up." Nico groaned and stood on his tiptoes to kiss Will, effectively shutting him up.

"Love you, mi amor," Will whispered in Nico's ear. 

"Love you too, Sunshine."

Sorry if it's bad, I have no idea how to do a pride parade, also I'm 100 percent Korean, English is not my first language!

Also, there are some homophobic ****es in my class. This boy, he was like, "You like gay ships?" when I told him about Solangelo. (We were partners for a get-to-know-you project) and he acted like it was unnatural.

Seriously, who decided that only boy+girl ships are acceptable? It's a misconception, and what's so bad about a little gayness in our lives? In a different world, it could be straight ships that are weird and LGBT ships that are not. It's just that we think it is weird. It's not. I'm straight, but I still support the LGBT community. You are not weird! You're special and important, just like everyone is.
