POV: Tam

Some could say Tam Dai Song was an emo kid who wasn't very romantic.

At all.

Which was true, Tam had to admit.

But when it came to his crush, Biana Vacker, it was different.

Tam constantly found himself wishing he could be the perfect person, one that Biana would be able to like and maybe even love.

But that was far from the truth.

This was why when Biana asked him to go out to dinner with her, he had been stunned beyond measure. But he had somehow managed to say "Yes".

Now that that dinner had come, he was a nervous wreck.

They ordered, and an awkward silence soon followed.

"Well this is awkward," Biana said, laughing.

Tam loved her laugh. He loved her. Wait, what?

Biana stared at him, and Tam blushed. "Did I say that aloud?"

Biana seemed to be in shock. "Yeah. Yeah, you did."

Tam winced and stood up. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-"

"No, Tam." Biana's voice was gentle, forcing him to look at her. "Tam...I like you too. I just never thought you felt the same way."

Tam blinked once, then twice. What? She liked him?

"Well, I do feel the same way. Biana, you're-you're perfect. But why me?"

Biana stared at him incredulously. "Tam, are you kidding? I've liked you since the first day we met!"

Their eyes, teal and light blue, locked.

Tam closed his eyes, seriously rethinking what he was about to do. Then he sighed, exasperated with himself, leaned over, and kissed her.

Biana gasped slightly but kissed back, and it was heaven. Their lips moved perfectly in sync, and-wait, what was that?

A blinding light appeared, followed by an almost unbearable pain. Tam heard Biana gasp.

"Tam...we're soulmates."

Tam stared at his wrist, not believing what was happening. The words Biana Amberly Vacker was tattooed beneath her initials, and a portrait of her, mid-laugh, teal eyes beautiful as always, was next to it.

Tam broke out into a genuine smile, for the first time in what felt like forever.

"And I wouldn't have it any other way."
