AND THEN!

"AGAIN!"

Pyrrha huffs and puffs, while sweat drips down her brow. She looks left and right searching for her mentor. One moment it was all quiet the next, Pyrrha loses her breath and falls to a knee.

I flick my wooden staff to the side looking down at Pyrrha. "You didn't sense it in time." I pointed out her mistake.

"Huff, huff. It's different compared to fighting normal Grimm." She shook her head in disappointment.

"You don't have to master it today." I say and hold out my hand to her. She looks up and takes my hand. "The Maiden powers have nothing to do with Aura. So increasing your perception will prepare you for foes that can hide the intent to hurt you." I pull up to help her stand.

I look up at the sun finding the time of day. "Come on, let's have lunch." I gesture to the cabin and head inside.

Pyrrha followed and sat at the table catching her breath. "Do you need help?" She asks.

Aww how sweet of her. "No, I got it." I respond with a smile.

A few moments pass with me occasionally humming a small tune to fill the void. I gather my ingredients to make lunch. Just simple sandwiches. "Could-Could you tell me more about the Maiden Powers?"

I turned to Pyrrha, pausing my task. She looked nervous asking her question. "Are you nervous?" I ask. It's completely normal for her to feel scared or worried about the situation. I did dump a lot of pressure on her.

"Well, I'm not exactly thrilled about keeping things discreet among my friends or staying away from them. Also, finding out that there is an immortal evil entity controlling the Grimm." Pyrrha closed her eyes and shook her head not wanting to believe it. "I would like to have some hope to hang onto."

I lightly smile, finishing up our lunch. Grabbing the plates I turn and head over to the table setting down her portion first.

"There's always hope, Pyrrha. Even in the darkest moments you can find it. And it is the benefactor in turning the tides of history." Sitting across from her I took a bite and made a face. I could do better on my sandwiches.

"The Maidens are essentially a wild card. They don't rely on Aura for their powers and although there are four of them relative to their seasons. It doesn't indicate the power they hold," interlacing my fingers and setting my chin on them I continue. "For example, Amber the previous Maiden. Could use the power of lightning, fire, ice and wind even though she is associated with the season Fall."

"I had thought that training would be more of a fighting stance." Pyrrha questioned.

"Your fighting style is already so refined, all you need now is experience. Right now, I want you to focus on perception and thinking outside the box when fighting. Maiden Powers have more to do with your imagination and control, almost like a phantom limb." Unfolding my fingers and leaning back in my chair I continue. "We have a decent amount of time before the main act starts. So we are not on a tight schedule for now."

Pyrrha looked down at her untouched sandwich uncertain. "You never told me how I'm going to receive the Maiden Powers?"

I stiffen. She already knows well enough how Maiden Powers are transferred. "Don't worry about it. Just leave it to me, okay." Standing from my seat I grab my plate intending to throw it away.

At The Market

"Is there a reason that I need to hide my face here?" Pyrrha asked under her hood.

I took her with me to the shopping district so we could get Pyrrha a new set of armor. Since Jaune took it as a memento. And, I didn't know her exact size.
