Apparently, the game gods (or maybe some sadist...
After seeing to the details of the banquet with Ron, I went in search of Alissa.
It wasn't long before I found her in the library, her head buried in a book as she sat cross-legged on the floor.
"Alissa, sweetheart,"
I called softly, approaching her with Bun-bun at my heels.
She looked up, her eyes lighting up with joy at the sight of me.
"Papa!"
She exclaimed, rushing into my arms for a hug.
"I was wondering when you'd come to see me,"
she said, her voice muffled against my chest.
Pulling back, I ruffled her hair gently.
"I'm going to attend the Crown Prince's banquet. I'll be back tonight,"
I told her, trying to gauge her reaction to the news.
She furrowed her brow, her lower lip jutting out in a pout.
"But I want to come with you, Papa,"
She protested, her voice filled with disappointment.
"I'm sorry, Alissa, it's not even something you'd enjoy, being cooped up in a room filled with grown-ups and boring conversations,"
I explained, trying to make my decision sound for her own benefit.
And of course, there was the Crown Prince. He was a special case himself.
Bun-bun, sensing the tension, nudged my leg gently with his head.
"But Bun-bun will be here with you, so you won't be alone,"
I reassured her, glancing down at the bunny.
She still looked crestfallen, but she eventually nodded.
"Alright, Papa. Be safe, okay?"
"Of course I will, and I'll be back tonight,"
I promised, giving her a comforting squeeze before letting her go.
"............,"
With a sigh, I entered the lavish banquet hall, the noise and elegance of the event surrounding me like a tidal wave.
A roar of conversation and laughter greeted my entrance as it was announced, a sea of faces turning to glance at me before returning to their own conversations.
In the midst of the crowd, my eyes landed on two faces, one grinning as he spotted me.
"(Y/N)! Long time no see, man!"
The first one exclaimed, his black hair slicked back in a style reminiscent of an old-timey movie star.
