I observed Eckles' plea, then glanced at the interest bar glowing faintly above him.

[Interest -70%]

"Well done,... Eckles."

I glanced down at him who knelt before me, a shudder running down my spine contemplating what he'd become without guidance - someone capable of inflicting fatal blows on others whenever's feeling so.

The negative interest rating both surprised and worried me; it indicated that this Duke's encounters with Eckles weren't as pleasant.

'However,... Where could they have possibly met when both are from different countries?'

"Get up,"

I instructed instead simply helping him rise erect again.

"For you did a good job,"

A certain pride colored my words remembering the fist I delivered to Kluy's face.

Eckles's face bore an unusual expression when praised - it was distinctly dull and yet gratified all at once.

He rose obediently like a well-trained puppy seeking his master's approval after completion of task set forth

Once (Y/N) turned away, however,... he couldn't contain excitement hiding behind a hand covering mouth while biting his bottom lip hard enough for it to turn cherry red and bleed as his cheeks flushed bright pink.

"Fu*K,... I want to kill you so bad... Ah~"

This behavior resembled nothing less than psychopathic enthusiasm; eerie yet endearing in its own twisted way.

"Hurry up, Eckles."

Not being able to hear the bizarre comment he muttered, I urged him to move quickly.

Eckles appeared startled for a moment; adjusting his expression rapidly into his normal emotionless one.

'Weirdo,...'

Then followed suit marching alongside silently into shadows swallowing our footsteps mutedly.

"Let's get out of here."

With a sigh, I turned away from that bloody scene remembering my promise to Penelope waiting anxiously somewhere with little Alissa.

No one deserved to see such violence, least of all them.

I felt a wave of relief wash over me as we emerged onto the main street. There she was, waiting patiently in a carriage with Alissa snuggled close by her side.
