╭┈─ ◌ೄ◌ྀ ˊˎI lowered myself to Alissa's eye level, a playful grin tugging at the corner of my lips as I greeted her.

"Hello there! I'm Callisto."

Alissa then giggled softly, shyly waving at me from behind the safety of (Y/N)'s leg.

"Nice to meet you!"

Her voice was much louder than expected, making me chuckle lightly.

"Pleased indeed..."

My words trailed off as I glanced at the duo before me: one a Grand Duke carrying secrets; another an innocent child caught between them.

Surprisingly, she didn't shy away from my presence but rather stared curiously into my eyes like two emerald pools reflecting her thoughts.

"By any chance... Are you papa's friend?"

The innocence in her question struck me oddly - how could such young children perceive relationships so easily?

"Friends?"

I corrected gently but firmly, shaking my head slightly.

"We've known each other since childhood... almost like family."

I believe he might be thinking something like, "Family my ass." The bitch thinks he can conceal it.

'I swear to god, if he says something—...'

Alissa's eyes lit up instantly; her tiny form leaped up towards me, planting an explosive kiss on my cheek before giggling coyly.

"That means you're my family too!"

I froze momentarily, feeling like an arrow had just pierced my heart. It was a strange sensation - one that caught me off guard and left me speechless. Her innocent declaration echoed in my mind long after she returned to her position beside (Y/N).

That sudden gesture had me feeling stunned but did nothing to dampen the warmth it brought.

"Uncle Cally!"

She giggled innocently at her newfound title for me which caused me to chuckle softly despite myself.

"It seems I've been promoted."

Muttering softly, I reached out to ruffle her hair lightly as if she was indeed one of my nieces or nephews.

"Fascinating,..."

Finally finding my voice again, I shook myself free from the peculiar sentimentality overtaking me and looked around for Cedrick who had picked up the scattered fruits by now.

"Cedrick, hand me a blank cheque."

I watched as Cedrick did as was told, quirking an eyebrow in curiosity at my next move.

With a flourish, I swiftly penned down a number reminiscent of fantasy novels filled with vast fortunes and wealth beyond imagination.

When finished, even Alissa could see its grandeur as the zeros stretched farther than her limited understanding allowed.

"Here,"

Handing her the paper, I watched her eyes widen at the sight before turning towards (Y/N) expectantly.

"This should cover whatever expenses you have for her... And more."

(Y/N)'s face remained stoic, eyes glancing over the numerals pensively before returning it back into my outstretched hand delicately.

"Refused?"

I questioned in surprise, knowing full well refusal would come from pride or stubbornness rather than genuine needlessness.
