Naina

"How dare you? You kicked him out of the company just like that?" An angry naksh barged into my cabin screaming at me.

"Keep your tone down Mr. Malhotra" I said as I looked upto him.

He banged his hand against the table as he glared at me. If I was the same Naina from 15 years ago, I would've flinched but not anymore.

"Don't forget this is my company and you creating a scene here won't affect my image but yours"  I said stressing on the word my.

Things were no longer in his favour. It was all about me now.

Naina malhotra.

And not naksh malhotra.

Things changed from "the psycho daughter and her poor father" to "the failure father and his helpful daughter".

"I will not let this slide" he glared at me as I stood up facing him.

"I would like to see you try" I glared back at him as I picked up my bag and walked towards the door.

I was about to turn the door knob when his voice stopped me.

"Why do you keep pissing me off? Can't you be a normal daughter for once" he sighed.

Normal?

Normal daughter?

"Kill yourself and I would cry like a normal daughter on your funeral, I promise" I said as I opened the door and left my cabin.

I often thought if it was my fault. Things would've been normal if I just didn't enter the room that day. Only if I didn't see anything. Would I've been happier?

No.

Aankho prr patti band lene se sach nahi chupta.

I sighed as I sat inside my car when I got a phone call. I looked at the caller ID as my body froze for a moment.

Breathe Naina.

Whatever it is. You'll get through it.

I picked up the call as the voice from other side spoke.

"Good evening mam" a man said.

"Yes or no?" I asked.

"Yes" he answered as my body froze while the phone fell down from my hand.

Yes.

One word and it changed my whole life in a second.

She's alive.

"Mam?" I could the voice from my phone as I collected myself and picked up the phone.
