When Jennie opened the door, the first thing i noticed was her dark red lips. I inwardly groaned, knowing exactly where i wanted those lips to go. She looked incredible.

She nervously laughed at my dumb joke. "Come in. I am almost ready."

I followed her in and closed the door behind me. She seemed tense, so I stayed standing by the door. I didn't want to crowd her.

She grabbed a small purse and looked at me. "Okay. Let's go."

I quirked an eyebrow. "Are you going to put your shoes on?"

"Right. Of course." She shook her head and sat on a chair in the kitchen. Crossing one leg over the other, she fastened her shoes. I couldn't help but notice how high the slit went up her leg.

How the fuck am I supposed to be a gentlemen when she looks like that? She was a damn seductress. That's what she was.

She stood and smoothed down her skirt. "Okay."

I stood with my arm crossed.

"What?"

"A coat?"

She let out a other nervous laugh and reached out for her coat that was hung over a chair.

"Jennie, are you sure you want to go to this?"

It was clear she was anxious. I didn't want her doing anything she was uncomfortable with. Even if it was just to be polite.

"Yes. It'll be....fun."

I squinted at her. "Tell you what, we'll go and have a drink. Maybe make a little small talk, then leave. We can do someplace, just us."

I wasn't sure how she was going to take my invitation. I was more nervous than I expected waiting for her reply.

She gave me a big smile, her white teeth shining against the dark red of her lips. "That sounds perfect."

As soon as she sat in my car, her perfume consumed. "So..." I cleared my throat. "What have you been up to these past few years? Did you ever start up that publishing company?"

She glanced at me, surprised. "I didn't realize you knew about that."

"Well, Junseo never shut up about you when you were together."

That was a lie. Most of what I knew about Jennie was what I remembered from the things she said. I was always paying closer attention than she thought.

She nodded in understanding. "No. I do work for a great magazine company. I get to find the top stories for each issue."

"Is that what you want to do, though?"

She shrugged, "It's pretty much the same thing."

I glanced at her before looking back at the road. "That's not what I asked."

She have me a shy smile before changing the subject. "What about you? Has your life turned out the way you planned?"

"Planned, yes. Wanted, no."

I saw the questions in her eyes, but thankfully she didn't get to ask me to elaborate.

"We're here."

The limo had already arrived. I parked the car and walked with Jennie to the front door. Once inside, we found the party gathered around a few reserved tables. I could tell Jennie was nervous when she walked behind me. That wasn't going to work for me, though. That woman should never be behind anyone. I paused as i waited until she was at my side. Then I leaned down and whispered in her ear.

"Just a couple of hours and we can leave."

She nodded in appreciation.

I lightly placed my hand on her lower back, leading her the rest of the way. When my fingers touched the small area of bare skin, i almost lost it. I wanted so badly to wrap my arm around her waist to pull her to me.

"Finally, man!" Junseo waved us over.

We all knew each other, for the most part. So there were only a few introductions. When Junseo grabbed my arm, yanking me towards the bar with the rest of the guys, i gave Jennie a sympathetic look. I didn't want to leave her, but she easily slid into conversation with the rest of the woman.

"Shots?"

I couldn't help but smile along with Junseo. "Sure."
