Pitting the kingdom's people against the school was a smart move to plant a seed of doubt in the hearts of the people. Ozpin may think he's playing his cards right. But they're underhanded plays with no one to trust fully. Ironwood is right, discreet isn't working, but playing your entire hand is foolish.

We entered the girls dorm room while both of his robot legions stood guard outside. The girls were sitting on the bottom bunks. With Yang and Ruby on one, Weiss and Blake on the other.

The girls made no comment with me in the room. Their main attention was on the general. "Miss. Xiao Long. You are hereby under strict confinement until the Vital Festival is over. And afterwards your position at this school will be reviewed."

"What!" Weiss gasped.

My head snapped to the General. Yang was going to get kicked out of school? I guess the situation was serious.

"That's not fair!" Ruby yelled out, throwing her hands in the air.

Ironwood took their comments calmly. "I'm sorry, but you left us with no choice."

"But he attacked me!" Yang argued back.

The General started to slowly pace in the room. "Video footage and millions of viewers say otherwise."

Weiss gestured over to her teammate. "But Yang would never do that."

"Yeah." Ruby stood in agreement.

"You all seem like good students. And the staff here at Beacon are fully aware that you would never lash out the way you did. Under normal circumstances." He looked specifically at me. As a generalization of the staff. "But I believe, and hope for this to be nothing more than the result of stress and adrenaline. When you're out on the battlefield your judgement can become clouded in an instant. Sometimes you see things that simply aren't there, even after the fight has passed."

Yang attempted to argue again. "But I wasn't-!"

"That's ENOUGH!" Ironwood broke his calm resolve for a moment then pulled himself back together. "The sad truth is whether it was an accident or an assault it doesn't matter. the world saw you attack an innocent student. They've already drawn their own conclusions and it's my job to inform you that you're disqualified."

He turns to me. "Miss. Woodsvale since Miss. Xiao Long is part of your jurisdiction. I trade the responsibility of her confinement to you."

I narrow my eyes. What? Does he think that he can order me around like his Ace Ops? Hell no. I'm not babysitting. I made a hard swallow and turned him down in my best professional voice.

"General Ironwood I hope you understand that I have other duties to attend to. I can not detain her for the rest of this festival." I look over at Yang briefly.

His voice dropped and hardened. "You can, and you will."

I step up about to go toe to toe with a Headmaster. "With all due respect James, I don't take orders from you." I growl.

"Actually you do." He crosses his arms behind him. "Right now, the council is not happy with Ozpin's decisions and they have entrusted the entire security force of this festival to me."

I held my breath, my gut dropping. Taking orders from Ironwood was not on my to do list. But, it doesn't matter. The final act is coming and his authority won't last long.

"Now, for the sake and safety of this kingdom. Do your duty and follow orders."

I harden my face. "Then I will do my duty and protect my students." At the cost of your orders.
