But if Death Came

I don't wish for life to end yet,
But if Death came quickly, I would understand the benevolence.

I don't seek an end to my days,
But if Death did come, I'd accept it in my own unique way.

I don't want to see the darkness soon,
But if Death did come, I wouldn't cry or swoon.

I don't want to leave this life behind,
But if Death were to come, I would resign.

I don't want to give up control,
But if Death were to come, I'd accept what I'm told.

I don't want things to be cut short,
But if Death were to come, I would comfort with a retort.

I don't want to be gone before long,
But if Death were to come, I would remain composed and strong.

Well, we have yet another one about death. How lovely! A lot of these poems are ones that I wrote in my notes app and copied down here. -Pip
