I was awoken by the ringing of my phone, I didn't know why but my whole body ached. It must be the stress of seeing Markus's first love again, the fear that filled my body knowing that I could lose him and even myself.

The phone kept ringing and I grudgingly stretched my hand to get it. The screen displayed Hardin. I've been a really bad friend, I've not spoken to him for quite a long time and still, he cared to check up on me.

" Hey Hardin," I said but immediately cleared my throat when I realized my voice was rough.

" Were you sleeping?" He asked and when I turned to the clock I saw that it was almost afternoon. Why did I sleep for so long? Why didn't anybody wake me up?

I rose from the bed with my phone to my ear as I walked towards the bathroom.

" I'm so sorry Hardin, there has been a lot going on in my life and it's all weighing on me," I said to him with a sigh as I opened the bathroom door and got in, as I passed the mirror on the wall I couldn't help but look at my reflection, I looked drained, exhausted even.

" That's why it's a good thing to come out, why don't you come watch my game today, you've never seen me play" He was right, the last time I wanted to go watch him something came up, my life was basically filled with drama.

" That sounds good, Hardin, I really need something to get my mind off things, just send me the location and I'll be there," I said as I picked up my toothbrush and applied toothpaste on it.

" That's great, I'll save you a seat," He sounded so happy and it was contagious that I couldn't help but smile.

" Alright, see you later," I said before hanging up.

I brushed my teeth and did my business then I got ready for the day. The game was scheduled for 3:00 pm and I had about an hour to go.

I needed to tell Markus I would be going for the game so he doesn't get any ideas in case he finds out somehow.

His phone rang about twice but I didn't get any response from him, he must be busy. Just as I was about to put the phone back into my purse the phone started ringing, it was Markus.

" Hey," I said as soon as I picked up.

" Sorry my love,..." That endearment, I just couldn't get used to it, it always left my body tingling.

..." I'm sorry I wasn't with my phone, do you miss me already?" He asked and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

" Don't flatter yourself," I joked.

" I called to let you know I'll be hanging out with Hardin today and I don't want you to cause any trouble this time, I can have friends too." He was quiet for a while before I heard him take a deep breath and then he spoke.

" Where will you be? I need to know you'll be okay,"

" At the Starville Stadium, it's a hockey game I'm going to watch," I said to him as the driver opened the car door for me and I got in.

" Alright, see you," He said before the phone went dead and I just looked at the screen with my brows squinted. Not thinking much of it I put my phone into my purse and relaxed as the driver drove us out heading for the stadium.

The whole place was packed with people, some kids had on jerseys that seemed way bigger than them but it was cute either way. Girls were wearing short skirts and cropped tops looking ready to cheer the players.

I had yet to catch sight of Hardin, but he had already sent me my reservation number and ticket. I moved to the counter where a not-so-friendly dude was standing. I opened my e-ticket to him and showed him. When he was sure that the ticket wasn't fake because it was directly sent from one of the players. He gave way for me but as I was just about to enter I heard two voices call my name at the same time.

What the hell?!

I knew Hardin would be here, but can someone tell me why Markus was here?

I saw Markus first before I saw Hardin.

" What are you doing here Markus?" I asked him in surprise as soon as he was near me.

" Well since you want to watch the game, it's fun to watch it with your partner right?" He said the last part a little louder because at that moment Hardin just reached where we were standing.

" Right," He had a pleased smirk on his face and I didn't know why.

I was hoping this would turn out well.

Hardin brought out his hand for a handshake and Markus just looked at it like his hand had maggot on it but when I nudged him he was forced to comply.

I don't know if it was my eyes deceiving me but that grip was a little too tight for a handshake.

" The game would be starting soon," I said to Hardin as it looked like neither of them wanted to stop shaking each other.

" Yeah," Hardin said as he released his hand from Markus's.

" Good luck with your game, I'll be rooting for you," Hardin smiled at me then he winked. I heard Markus mutter something but I didn't catch what he said. Hardin walked off to get ready for his game.

I turned to Markus.

" I thought you had work, why did you suddenly come here?" I asked him with my brows raised.

" Well I missed my pregnant lady and I wanted to spend time with her, there's nothing wrong with that right?"

" Do you have a ticket?" I asked because, from the crowd that was here, I doubted he could get a last-minute ticket.

" I'm a billionaire, did you forget that?" Showoff.

He held my hand and led us to our seat and surprisingly it was the seat next to mine. I would ask him how, but I already knew the answer.

The game kicked off as the announcer announced the team and everyone cheered.

Hardin's team was the Black Eagle team and they were up against the Wolves.

When the game started everything was just like a blur, damn it was like bodies against bodies, it was so rough.

Hardin was number four and I was cheering so loud for his team, even louder when they won the first shot.

" You know for a pregnant woman you're acting like a schoolgirl fangirling over some hockey player," Markus said with a chuckle, but I didn't mind him, I was having fun.

" Come on wolves, you can do better," I heard Markus say.

" Hey, you are supposed to be supporting the Black Eagles, my friend's team, remember?" Markus just shrugged, turning back to the game. I was glad he was enjoying the game even if he had refused to support my team.

" Can't I just have my peace?" I heard Markus say and I turned to him in question.

" My phone hasn't stopped vibrating in my pocket," He said, clearing my confusion.

" Why don't you check it? It might be something important," I said to him and he contemplated for a while before he brought his phone out of his pocket.

" Fuck," I heard him say and before I could ask him what was wrong, he was already making his way toward the exit.

What could be so urgent?
