" Thank you, doctor, I hope she'll wake up today," The doctor was looking at me and I didn't understand why until I realized I just thanked him, it wasn't something I was used to, I was just doing all these because of Jane, I was starting to do the things she did.

" Well Mr Arthur, I'll let you be with your wife," he said before making his way out of the hospital room.

Someone wanted Jane dead, who could hate her so much that they wanted to set her on fire without caring that she was pregnant? it was pure wickedness and whoever this person was would get a taste of their own medicine when I got a hold of him or her.

I turned back to Jane who still had the oxygen connected to her, the doctor had earlier said if she stayed unconscious for too long it might affect the child.

God I didn't know what to do, I couldn't wake her up or I would have, what the hell was stopping her from waking up?

I sighed as I rested my head on the bed as our hands were intertwined together when suddenly I felt her stir and I don't think I've ever turned so fast.

I looked at her face and her eyes were still tightly shut but, I felt her finger that was intertwined with mine move and I looked down at it, my heart couldn't help but bloom with joy.

It meant she was going to wake up, soon enough, I had hope.

" You're doing great my dear, I know you can hear me, I want you to know that when you open your eyes I'll be waiting for you here, I'll be sitting right here," I said as I squeezed her hands, hoping she could actually hear me and knew I was here for her.

It was almost evening of the second day and she hadn't woken up, my worry by now had doubled and I just couldn't sit still. I began pacing the room, turning to her whenever I heard a sound.

I still couldn't believe someone could do something as horrible as to set the room of a pregnant woman on fire. What if she wasn't found? Now her life and the life of the child were in danger.

I heard a groan and quickly rushed back to her side as I watched her turn her head to her left and right side but she didn't open her eyes, we were making progress, it wouldn't take long before she would open her eyes.

" You're getting there, just a little more okay, do this for me please, I want to see those beautiful eyes," I encouraged her as I pushed the hair that had fallen to her face when she turned behind her ear making sure the hair was held in place.

I waited but nothing happened, I was becoming scared shitless, this was taking too long.

I thought everything was under control but my eyes quickly turned to the heart monitor because of the loud noise it started making.

" Doctor! Nurse!" I called and quickly they all rushed to her room.

" What is going on? Is she okay doctor?" I asked as soon they entered.

" Mr Arthur please you'll have to wait outside," the doctors said as they all turned to check on Jane and I was rooted on my spot.

" Please Sir you have to wait outside, that's the rule for us to focus on her thank you," the nurse said and this time I reluctantly opened the door and stepped out, I promised whoever was responsible for that fire that if I get hold of the person, he or she will pay with their blood.

I leaned on the wall waiting for them to update me on how she was doing, I couldn't lose them, I just couldn't, I don't know what I was gonna do if something happened to them, everything was just going as planned but that fucker has to interfere with my life.

It was about thirty minutes now and the doctors had still not given me any news and my heartbeat was beginning to increase in fear, I couldn't help but imagine the worst. The what-ifs were just swimming in my head.

Finally, the door opened and a doctor stepped out of the room.

" How is she?" Is she okay,?" I bombarded the doctor with questions.

" Calm down Mr. Arthur, she's going to be fine, as a result of the smoke like I had told you before it caused a blockage in her lungs which would have resulted in something dangerous but right now she's fine and there's nothing for you to worry, the child is also fine, so calm down." He said before giving me a nod and walking away.

I entered her hospital room and saw a nurse cleaning her skin, She was mine to take care of, I would take care of her, I didn't need anyone to do that for me.

" Give me that, I'll do it myself," I said to the nurse and she handed me the towel she was using to clean Jane's body.

I dipped the towel in the small bowl and started cleaning her skin, her face down to her feet. I was still cleaning her skin when my phone began to ring but I ignored it, right now, Jane was my only priority, nothing else mattered.

When I finished cleaning her I sat back on the chair I had been occupying and patiently waiting for her to wake up.

Coughing, that what was woke me up from my sleep, I didn't even know I had fallen asleep in my long wait to see her open her eyes.

" Jane," I stood up as she continued her coughing moving her body aggressively like she was convulsing, I was about to call the doctors again but she suddenly stopped and then she spoke, I don't think that word had ever sounded so good to my ears at the moment like it did hearing it from her.

" Water."
