Why the hell was I so nervous, this was Carter. My husband.
We left things on bad terms, and I knew we both hated it, I could see the regret in his eyes as if it was a reflection of my own.

"Hey" I said quietly as I approached him, he was sat in our tent fiddling his hands together.

His big hazels met mine and I could have melted then and there "Hey baby".

I dropped down to him, leaning into my knees so I was eye level with him "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for lying and hurting you, I really didn't mean it" I had no intentions of what to say when I saw him and now I have it all came bursting out "I just wanted to keep us safe and I did it the wrong way, I love you so much".

"I'm sorry too" Carter sat up on his knees inline with me, his hand reaching out to cup my face. Even though it had been a day his warmth was a feeling I'd missed, leaning into his touch "Everything was up in the air and I was worried about you, I just didn't want you to get hurt. I couldn't survive this without you".

Breaking the distance I caught his lips in mine, showing him how sorry I was through our movements. My hands ravelling in his hair pulling him deeper into me, his sinking down to my waist to pull me flush against him. For a moment I forgot the dangers and unknown lurking in the distance and all I saw was him, until a cough broke us from the moment.

A wide eyed Hayley peaking through the tent doors with the biggest look of disgust on her face, I couldn't help but laugh into Carter as her tiny cheeks illuminated red "You two are gross" the girl laughed before coming in to sit with us "I told Matt it wouldn't take long for you guys to make up".

Carters smile was wide, his laugh hidden as he leaned into my neck. Hayley sat in the corner in her bed whilst I gave Carter a run down of what Ryan told me, his face a mirror of mine when I found out. He quickly agreed that we had to do something, and the next people we needed were our two accomplices.

I sat on the edge of the small girls bed smiling over her, she looked up with a smile "We've got some things to do, but I need to you to stay in here okay".

Hayley nodded "Is everything okay?".

My hand reached over to push a dark lock from her petite face, my hand resting on her cheek as I nodded covering the fact I was scared "Yeah honey. We just need to make sure this place is safe, and until that happens I need to you stay here. If anything happens you find Matt okay".

The girl jumped the small distance into my arms, wrapping herself around me "Be safe".

"I will".

I jumped up to join Carter who was waiting outside when her sweet voice echoed again "I love you Katie" and I felt my heart burst into pieces.

"I love you too Hayley".

It didn't take us long to rope Ben and Maddie in, they both agreeded we needed to find out what the hell was happening in this place.

"So we are the distraction" Ben looked unsure looking to Maddie who was already pulling her short hair from the band it was wrapped in.

"I've got this" The girl smiled, before walking to the two guards at the door. Her hips swaying seductively as she swirled a dark strand of hair around her finger.

If it wasn't working on the guards it was most definitely working on Ben, his mouth was practically on the floor as he watched her.

"See something you like" I laughed bumping my shoulder to his, all he could do was let out a small grunt as he rubbed his palm down his eyes.

It didn't take Maddie long, the man on shift was putty in her hands the moment she let her palm rest on his chest.

"Time for me to get involved" Ben started walking over, his fists clenched which was supposed to be part of the act but he was playing the part all too well "Mad what the hell. Are you cheating on me".

It didn't take long for the distraction to work, the guard was too focused on the dramatic situation to notice me and Carter slipping through the doors.

"This way" I slipped my hand into my husbands, following the exact route I took last time I was in this haunting building.

When we reached the same lab doors I stopped holding a finger to my lips as I tried to listen in, but all I got was dead silence. Laindon was nowhere in sight as we slipped through the doors, Carters eyes automatically attaching to the corpse cage.

"The fuck" He shout whispered, holding his hand over the weapon tucked in his waist.

"I know. Its creepy as shit" I added going straight over the file cabinet, it was unlocked to our luck giving me free rein to search for answers "Lets find out what the fuck is going on".

Carter and I pulled almost every file out scanning over the hundred pages of words, almost every inch in scientific words we didn't know the half off.

"Look at this" I handed a page to him, the top titling "Demetia" below the writing was a list of symptoms as well as the components of the brain, which again we obviously could understand. "Flip it over".

"This is virus strains" Carter ran a finger down the page "Ebola, hantavirus, influenza".

I couldn't help but stiffle a laugh as he red the names to me "I love it when you talk viruses to me".

The boy rolled his eyes throwing the paper to me "Shut up".

"Duck".

Carter dropped down quickly as I held my pistol up, a wide eyed Laindon standing at the door with a confused look on his ashen face.

"The hell is going on here" his voice shook and I knew he was scared.

I stepped closer pushing the metal of the gun barrel into his chest "That's what you are going to explain to us Doc".
