Chapter 20: A Spider-Woman

Y/N's P.O.V

I run out of the office and I can see Peter fighting Doc Ock through the glass.

A moment later I'm joined by Pete.

Peter: I'll tell you the good news. We don't need the monitor.

Y/N: Oh, cool.

He takes the monitor and throws it away.

Peter gets grabbed and thrown by Doc Ock.

Ock: You didn't tell me you had a Spider friend.

Pete shoots a web line and pulls me under Octavius.

Doors close behind me, cutting Octavius off from us.

After that we run through the cafeteria and get outside.

Peter: Okay, pal. Time to relearn how to swing. Let's do it.

Y/N: I don't think that's good idea.

Peter: Maybe not, but you gotta do it. Go!

We get to the edge and Pete pushes me over the side.

I quickly fire a web line and try to web swing.

Y/N: Whoa! Whoa! Oh, shit! 

Peter: Everyone knows that the best way to learn/relearn is under intense life-threatening pressure.

Y/N: Is that how you learned?!

Peter: Uh, no!

Y/N: What?!

Just then I hit a tree and fall to the ground.

After that I start running, but manage to shoot out a web line to continue swinging.

Peter: Nice, Y/N! You still got it!

He and I start swinging together.

Y/N: I'm doing it!

Peter: You're doing it! Now remember, double tap to release and thwip it out again.

I start doing that and it gets easier.

It's coming back to me and my powers aren't giving out.

Peter: There you go. You're a natural. Good, Y/N.

Y/N: I gotta say, you're amazing, man.

Peter: We're a team now. Me as the mentor who can do it. You as the student that can do it, just not as good. I'm proud of us. Is....

Just then Pete gets hit by one of Ock's arms and falls down.

Y/N: Peter!

I drop down and we both land on a branch. I manage to catch the computer though.

But slips out of my hand and the branch snaps.

As we fall, Pete and I get caught by webs and hang from the trees.

Peter: Whoa.

Y/N: What happened?

We see a figure in a black and white suit fly past us.

They then start to fight Doc Ock.

It seems to be another Spider.

After taking down Octavius the Spider comes over with the computer.

The Spider is a girl.

She takes off her mask to reveal Gwen.

(A/N: Just imagine it's this story's version of Gwen.)

Gwen: Hey, guys.

Y/N: Gwen?

Peter: So, you know her? Very cool.

Gwen: I'm from another dimension. I mean another-another dimension.

After that she gets us down to tell us her story.

Gwen: I'm Gwen Stacy. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. And for the last year, I've been the one and only Spider-Woman. I did some hero stuff. Saved some people, saved my dad. I couldn't save my best friend, Peter Parker. So, now I save everyone else. I also don't do friends anymore, just to avoid any distractions.

She lost her Peter, just like I lost mine.

After that she explains how she was brought into my dimension, but got knocked into last week.

Gwen: Anyway, my spider sense told me to go to Mid-Town High. I wasn't sure why until I met you, Y/N.

My eyes widen.

Y/N: Really? Your spider sense told you to find me?

She nods.

Gwen: Yeah, it did. My spider sense went off when you walked into the classroom and a little bit when you walked past me in the hallway.

Y/N: Wow, okay.

Gwen: Okay, let's go.

She web swings away and we go after her.

(Twenty minutes later)

So, we're on a bus back to the city.

Gwen and I are sat with each other.

We've been talking.

I've told her about my mental block and how Peter is helping me with it.

She looks at the broken override key.

Gwen: So, he broke this?

Y/N: Yeah, but he's pretty embarrassed about it. So, let's just keep it between us.

She smiles.

Y/N: Don't worry though, I know where we can make a new one.

Gwen: And we won't let him break it this time.

I nod.

Y/N: Look, I gotta ask. How'd your Peter die?

She sighs.

Gwen: Well, Peter was a hurt alot. He was bullied and pushed around by alot of people. I tried to help him, but it didn't always work. Anyway, after he found out I was Spider-Woman he tried to make himself like me, but he ended up turning into a mutant lizard.

Y/N: Oh my god. I'm sorry.

Gwen: Yeah. I had to fight him and he died before I could save him. It was my fault.

Y/N: I'm so sorry.

Gwen: Thanks. So, how'd your Peter died?

Y/N: He wanted to help me as Spider-Man, so he used my blood to give himself my power, but he turned into a giant mutant spider. And he stopped himself for hurting anyone, including me. I still can't help but blame myself though.

Gwen: I'm so sorry, Y/N. And I'm sorry about your block too. But it wasn't your fault.

Y/N: Thanks. And I could say the same about you and your Peter.

She nods.

There's a moment of silence.

She sighs.

Gwen: I gotta say though, it's kinda nice not being the only Spider-Person around.

Y/N: Yeah, tell me about it. I didn't think I'd meet anyone else like me after Peter died.

She smiles.

Gwen: I never thought I'd meet anyone like me either.

I look at her.

Y/N: Hey, so, if you ever decide to do friends again. I can always fill a slot. If you want that is.

She nods.

Gwen: Thanks, Y/N. I'll keep you posted on that.

Y/N: Okay, cool.

Now all we need to do is get back to the city and get the key fixed.

Then I can blow up the Collider after sending Gwen and Pete through it.
