Chapter 18

You rub your head. Your mind is blank. You can't remember anything that happened.

"Oh yeah, I meant to tell you about that symbol earlier."

N tells Uzi.

"What happened?"

You ask N, feeling slightly nauseous.

"Did you forget?"

N looks at you, confused.

"The last thing I can remember is fighting that monster thing."

N and Uzi exchange glances.

"You don't remember being all dizzy, then laughing until you almost died?"

"Wait what?"

You ask, looking at her.

"You called N 'honey'."

Uzi smirks.

Your eyes widen and you look at N. He avoids eye contact.

"And... uh... what did he say?"

You blush slightly.

"Nothing, but damn, he got real flustered."

You smile to yourself.

"Coulda sworn you two kissed. I walked in on you guys being awful close..."

Uzi looks at you and N with a shit-eating grin.

"We did not!"

N yells.

"I was just... worried."

He looks down sadly.

"Uh-huh. Sure."

Uzi rolls her eyes.

"Anyways, about the symbol."

N continues.

"So, I finished the device,"

Uzi holds up a weird clump of metal with wires and a suction cup on it. The three of you are back in her room. You're sitting in Uzi's chair while she explains the weird object. N is watching nervously on Uzi's bed.

"It'll tell me what's happening with your code."

"Okay..."

She pops the suction cup on your forehead and walks over to her laptop. Uzi plugs in a few wires and starts typing stuff. You twiddle your fingers in anxiety.

After a couple minutes of anxious silence, Uzi finds something.

"Oh..."

You look up.

"Oh god..."

"What?! What is it?!"

You yell.

"Every time you have that episode of robo-syncope, your code is trying to undergo an update..."

Uzi explains.

"What sort of update?"

N stands up and walks over to the computer to take a look.

"I think..."

Uzi types some more.

"It's a delayed update..."

"What does that mean?"

You stand up and walk over to the laptop as well.

"The update has always been there... but it hasn't started yet because it needs to be activated. It has a cue."
