24. The Truth About The Reiss Family

All the injured soldiers were being treated, Lexie herself had treated commander Erwin. Eren had shared with his friends, Section Commander Hange, Captain Levi and Commander Erwin the conversation of Reiner and Berthold. It seemed they were just soldiers sent by someone else, someone outside the walls.

They realized whatever Eren did to the titans had to be studied, it was the whole reason he was being kidnapped on the first place. Lexie approached Eren then.

"I guess now we know why the royal council wanted your power." Lexie said.

"Lexie, do you think the royal council knew about this?" Commander Erwin asked.

"If they did, why didn't they say anything?" Levi asked too. Lexie looked down.

"I don't know, but... the book, the sudden interest of me becoming a soldier, the insistence on keeping an eye on Eren... I think they are keeping things from me. I didn't even know about Krista- I mean, Historia." Lexie vented. "But I have to find out. I have to find out the truth."

As everyone started regrouping and passing the horses to the other side of the wall again. Lexie stared at the horizon with a frown. She felt very troubled and confused, and she also felt a bit betrayed that secrets were being kept from her by her family.

"Coin for you thoughts." Armin said as he approached her, Lexie smiled at him a little.

"It's just a lot to take in." Lexie said. Armin silently agreed.

"Lexie, I saw when that titan grabbed you." Armin said. "It didn't want to kill you."

"I am as surprised as you are, Armin." Lexie said. "I don't understand anything." She hugged herself. It was windy and she wasn't wearing a jacket or a cape. Armin, impulsively, got closer to her and hugged her, covering her with part of his cape. "What if I'm a titan too and don't know about it?" She asked. "It would make sense why my family still has those old books."

"I don't understand a lot either." Armin said. "But we'll figure it out. I promise."

Lexie rested her head on Armin's shoulder and Armin blushed.

"I have to go back to my parents. I need answers not only about this, but also about Historia and everything else. Commander Erwin will give the order to keep her safe. I'll try to find out as much as I can."

"I know you will." Armin said. He admitted to himself he was sad to part ways with Lexie, but he also knew she would return eventually, after she finds out what she needed to. She returned after the titan inside the wall was discovered, she'd return again, or at least, that was what he kept repeating himself.

She grabbed his hand and turned to face him and look up at his eyes, the beautiful blue eyes that made her warm. Armin stared at her too, feeling her close was like a drug to him, he didn't want to ever let go, and then suddenly she did something he wasn't expecting, she pecked his lips very quick, he even thought it could have been an accident or his imagination, but when he looked at her again, a bit of fear was in her eyes, When Armin didn't react, she looked away and let go of his hand, taking a step back.

"I'm sorry, I-" Before she could move further, Armin grabbed her face and her waist and pressed his lips to hers again. Lexie's eyes widened at the sudden movement, but he eased on the kiss almost instantly.

Her lips were soft to him, and holding her was very reassuring, he wanted to stay like that forever. She grabbed him by his jacket and by his nape, lightly grabbing into the back of his hair too. He loved how she pulled at him, just as she loved how he held her. They eventually pulled away to breath and smiled at each other. Armin had a very red face since he had let his body take action when grabbing her instead of thinking ahead, but he was also glad he did it, especially after she kissed him back.
