ZANE

THE PAST year has been hard.

With my sister relapsing very badly and being in and out of hospital to my mum getting layed off her job to my dad losing his life in a car accident and me having to meet his other family at the funeral who were grieving a man that I didn't know.

So I had to step up and focus on my family, helping my mum pay the bills while she finds another job, looking after my sister for a while until she had to go into a ward so that they could look after her better and then spending every spare moment I had visiting her, all while dealing with the strange grieving of the man I've grown to hate.

And I haven't stepped foot in my apartment for a year and yet I still pay rent. It feels wrong to live there without Callie but also wrong to get rid of it. I've just been so busy, mentally and physically.

I've thrown myself completely into boxing and training in order to stop myself from complicating my complicated life any further but I haven't been able to stop thinking about her so I did possibly the strangest thing I've ever done in my life, and I got new tattoos. Not just any new tattoos, ones for Callie and reminders of our time together. The teddy bear she got from the market, the time we went to the museum together, the time she needed a plaster and we kissed for the first time, her birthday, her name.

I think I'm going insane, like stalker level crazy but that's just the reaction she gets out of me.

But now she's here, stood in front of me after twelve months, looking better than ever and very pissed off.

"Are you fucking insane?" She screams at me and I have to hold back a smirk. Is it bad that I find this hot?

I take a moment to appreciate the woman in front of me, her copper hair sitting sleek behind her ears, a thin white tank top with a red bra underneath and some track pants that hang low on her hips, showing off a new belly piercing.

She looks dangerously good for this place.

"Have you even been listening to a word I just said?" She clicks her fingers in my face, "And my eyes are up here." She adds with a roll of her eyes.

I tilt my head, looking down at Callie who's glaring up at me. "I know, I wasn't looking at your eyes."

She scoffs despite the blush that rises to her face, "You're insufferable."

"And a jackass who has too much time on his hands and too much self confidence apparently." I add and she gets angrier if that's even possible.

It's then I notice to two figures hovering behind her, Morgan and some other girl I don't recognise. She's got a new friend, that's good.

"Hey Morgan."

"Don't talk to them." Callie snaps at me.

"You can't tell me what to do sweetheart." I remind her gently.
