ZANE

AS I drive us home I can't stop myself getting lost in thought.

If I'm being honest, I didn't have to come to Washington for work this weekend but it lined up so perfectly with Callie's plans that I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I did, it gave me some insight into Callie's life and at this point I will take anything from her that I can get.

I love learning new things about her, she's a very interesting person.

"You know I used to dance as a kid. Ballet." Callie says from besides me.

I never knew that.

"I stopped when I was sixteen and I'm more into yoga now but I still love it."

I can totally picture her doing ballet. Callie walks around with a certain grace about her, the way she holds herself and the gentleness of her movements all coincide with a trained dancer. I guess I just never thought about why she is the way she is.

I want to know more about her.

I actually think I might be obsessed with her.

"How's work?" I ask her and she shrugs which makes me frown.

"That dickhead's not giving you shit still is he?" After she confided in me what happened with Ethan at work it's been playing on my mind, lingering constantly at the back of my head.

I hate knowing that she still works with that ass.

Callie shakes her head and my worry increases. "Cal?" My voice comes out slightly more desperate than I would like and she replies meekly.

"No, it's nothing. Seriously, don't worry about it."

So it is something?

I decide not to press her becuase I can already see the tears forming in her eyes and the last thing I want is to upset her. But this will be dealt with.

I've got the dreadful feeling that she's being basically bullied at work and is refusing to even think about it outside of the hopsital. I mean, we're not in high school anymore there's no need to be so horrible to people.

We're literally all working adults.

Throughout the rest of the drive Callie's mood seems to get gradually better meanwhile my anger is gradually increasing.

I swear to god if I ever see that man in real life.

"Thank you for driving me Zane, I really enjoyed having you be my chauffeur." She tells me and I roll my eyes.

"Whatever you need Cal, honestly." I tell her and she nods like she doesn't believe me but I would do anything she wanted if only she asked.

After dropping Callie off at her apartment and waiting until she gets fully inside, I make my way home to see my mum and sister.
