It was during the first ep season 2 of Grey's
(nothing had happened between Ellen and Patrick yet. Talula is just 3 y.o.)
Ellen, Katherine, Sandra ans Kate were having a girls night at Ellen's house ans they started talking about Grey's and how the plot could change with Mark's arrival
"do you think... that Meredith and Mark are going to be a thing now?" Katherine smirked
"nah, I don't think so” Ellen scrunched her nose "Meredith very much still wants Derek and she knows that sleeping with Mark would mean losing him forever”
"fair enough but it would be interesting to see” Katherine giggled
"Derek is just an ass, why would Meredith want him back?” Sandra pointed out
Kate, Ellen and Katherine looked at each other
"I don't think Addie and him are going to work, so probably you will get back with him” Kate smiled tenderly at Ellen
"I hope so” Ellen nodded
she really missed acting with Patrick as a couple, most of their scenes were just awkward dialogues that seasons and Meredith was sleeping around a lot which meant that Ellen had to kiss strangers and she didn't really like it, even if it was part of her job,
"nah, Mcdreamy is mctoxic... I am shipping Mark with both Meredith and Addison right now, he is also a lot hotter than Derek” Sandra smirked
"I don't agree with that” Ellen prontly replied
Sandra and Katherine looked at each other
"what? I just said that I don't agree with San,
I think Pa-Derek is more attractive"
"I agree with Ell on this San, I also like Patrick better, I mean... Eric is hot too but Patrick is Patrick" Katherine laughs
they all turned too look at Kate
"don't look at me, I agree with Addie on this, I wouldn't know who to pick either" Kate joked
they all laughed
"I also think they are both hot... Eric is just a little too much tho” Ellen agreed
"they are both man candies” Katherine giggled
"men candies?” Ellen looked at Katherine
"yes, I mean I would have a one night stand with either of them but... they are just not the kind of man women would marry” Katherine explained
"I know what man candy means but why are you saying that about them?” Ellen asked confused
"because they are menwhores Ellen, they are not hubby or baby daddy material” Katherine laughed
"I agree” Sandra nodded
Kate didn't say anything, she was just having fun looking at Ellen having an interior conflict
"Patrick is a good father, Tal is his whole world and that little girl loves him so much” Ellen pointed out
"and I don't really know Eric yet but you can't say that they are just good for a once thing, that's not nice Katie” Ellen replied serious
"Ell, I didn't mean it as an insult, I am sorry if it came out like that”
Ellen noticed that her reaction had been a little too much so she calmed down
"I know, it's just sad and superficial to judge someome from their look and say they are just good for sex”
"okay, that's true but Katie said it in a good way and I don't think they would cry about it” Sandra pointed out
"still a little mean, maybe" Kate agreed with Ellen
"exactly, I don't know if Eric would laugh about it but Patrick wouldn't, he has been sexualized his whole life untill the point that he thinks it's normal and he has to accept it but deep down he hates it”
"that's sad but Katie didn't mean to attack him so why are you defending him?”
"because he is my bestfriend and I don't like it when people deminuish my friends. Patrick is a good person; he is sweet, he is kind, he is funny, he has many passions beside acting, he is amazing whith his little daughter and he talks really sweetly about his mom and his sisters. You can't just consider his look” Ellen defended him convinced
Sandra and Katherine smirked at each other
"oh my God, Kate you were right" Katherine laughed
"I am always right” Kate made a proud face
"oh poor you” Sandra hugged Ellen
"what-what are we talking about?” Ellen frowned
"aw you are falling for him” Katherine smiled
"no, that's just- I am not... this is ridiculous, I-I have a boyfriend, I love Chris” Ellen hissed
"maybe... but you clearly have a thing for Patrick, it's too obvious Ell” Kate giggled
"Katie does too then" Ellen scoffed annoued
"not at all, I said I find him hot but so does Kate and so do most women. I don't go all goo goo over how cute he is” Katherine pointed out
Sandra and Kate laughed
"I don't go all goo goo” Ellen complained
"he likes you too by the way, he told Eric and Eric told me... so it's okay” Kate reassured her
"he is married, he probably meant that he likes me the same way I like him... like... bestfriends who like each other” Ellen tried to convince herself
"bestfriends who like each other, seriously?” Sandra teased her
"besties who would like to fuck each other, it makes sense” Katherine laughed
"shut up” Ellen giggled throwing a pillow at her
"I am going to take a new coca cola bottle” Ellen got up and went into the kitchen to espace from the topic
"she is so in love, it's cute” Kate giggles
"definitely” Sandra shook her head
"I know" Kate agreed
When Ellen came back from the kitchen they didn't talk about Patrick anymore but her mind was a complete mess after that conversation
what if her friends were right? what if she was falling for him? she couldn't fall for him, he was married and she had a boyfriend
*nah, that's impossible. Falling in love for a man you will never have? that only happens in movies and books, real life isn't like that* she tried to convince herself
That was the first time she ever dealt with the idea of being in love with him
