MAYBE IT'S NOT TOO LATE

PATRICK'S POV

During the last few days Patrick has tried to convince Jillian to let him go alone, that there was no reason for her to attend Ellen's event and that she doesn't get to be jalous since it's a public event and they would be sorrounded by people all the time....

but it didn't work, Jillian insists that they should both go as a couple and show that they can all peacefully coexist because Ellen, Chris, Patrick and her  all respect one another.

Since he doesn't trust her pacific purposes, Patrick asked Kate to come with them and, as espected, she immediately agreed suggesting she brought Andy too so that he would keep Jillian busy which was a really good idea

Patrick looks at himself in the mirror for the 50th times, he wants to make sure that he looks great

He is wearing a grey suit... Ellen loves when he wears a suit so he is pretty sure she would like him anyway but he still wants to look good

"are you ready?" Patrick knocks at the door of ther room impatiently waiting for Jillian

"I am” she rolls her eyes annoyed

"okay, let's go"

in another occasion he probably would have bothered to look at her and tell her that she looked beautiful but right now he can't even think straight

he sees Jillian frowing a little, she most definitely noticed that he hasn't even glanced at her but she won't say anything so he just ignores it too

they both go downstair

"okay, dad and I are going... are you guys okay?" Jillian asks to the twins

"yes" Sullivan smiles with a mishevous grin

"mom, we are 16, of course we are gonna be fine" Darby rolls his eyes

Patrick can't help but giggle

"okay, we are going then" Jillian says

Darby has Patrick's same shy smirk when he is lieing or hiding something so he knows that face pretty well

"bye guys, be nice and please don't destroy the house" Patrick giggles

"okay” the twins both laugh

"you guys have fun” Sullivan smiles

Patrick and Jillian close the door and pull out of the driveway to go pick up Kate and Andy for the event

Patrick is a little anxious so he really isn't in the mood for talking but Jillian breaks the silence

"they were a little too happy about us leaving, weren't they?" Jillian raises her eyebrow

"uhm uhm” Pattick giggles

"they probably invited a few friends over, or maybe... more than a few... I mean if I was a 16 y.o. and had a big villa all for myself for one night I would throw the biggest party ever" he laughs

Jillian shakes her head

"I am so blaming you for Darby's naughty attitude” Jillian rolls her eyes

"oh yes, my Darby boy is definitely a Dempsey like his dad” Patrick grins proudly

a cold silence fell down between them untill they pick up Kate and Andy... like they didn't have anything to talk about just the two of them except the kids

their couple therapist kept telling him that he should try harder and understand Jillian's feelings but his efforts were never enough and right now he doesn't even want to try

he just cares about seeing Ellen again after way too long

after a few minutes of complete silence they arrive to Kate and Andy's house

"hey stranger” Patrick greets Kate

since Kate started dating Andy he often jokes about her becoming an australian and not being american anymore

For the whole ride Jillian is very silent and almost sad looking while Kate and Patrick keep talking and Andy laughed at their old memories on set when they plaid the worst tv couple ever and were inbolved ever in a tv triangle with Ellen's character

as soon as they arrive Jillian goes looking for a bathroom and leaves the three of them alone

"man, does your wife ever... Idk... talk?” Andy looks at Patrick

"Andy" Kate slaps him

"she usually does talk” Patrick laughs "but right now she is not very happy about this"

"I don't blame her, after... you know...”

"you told him” Patrick reproaches Kate

"I am sorry but we are engaged, we tell each other everything and he also needed to know what he should distract Jillian from" Kate justifies herself

Patrick shakes his head, he trusts Andy, he seems a good guy but too many people know already and that's too dangerous

"he is on your side Pat, he is helping” Kate reassures him

"you better be nice to me tonight” Andy rolls his eyes

"I am always nice to you" Kate laughs playfully slapping him

"she loves travelling and animals, just talk to her about Australia, kangaroos and koalas” Patrick suggests to Andy

Andy nods in agreement

Kate, Patrick, Andy and Jillian finally arrived at the event
will Ellen be happy to see them?
