[12] Something true

In a world unkind, I cautioned my own heart:

"Don't be so self-centred, no matter how tough it gets,

even if you take a tumble, just get back up.

Life's a race, go hustle!"

Days turned murky with the suffocating web of lies

being nothing but a brutal hug.

Accustomed to crisis calls, I felt a fool,

Used only in times of need, a friendship tool.

Then you appeared, a twist in life's bend.

Curiosity trickled through my mind's shore

and as such our friendship's tale began.

It was the dawn of something new, but oh so true!

A chance to be bare, to authentically me, and above

all I could never ask for more,

Not now when I've finally found the angel I'd dreamt of.
