    Last Sunday Call

    My last Kansas visit with him
    June 25th, 2023
    Our last Sunday call 
    July 27th, 2023
    His last morning meme 
    July 29th, 2023, 9:30am
    He died.
    I was on the road,
    Sleeping, as we drove to him. 
    The weird thing about lasts 
    Is that you rarely know 
    What day will be your last.
    And you almost never know
    When your last time with someone
    Will be.
    I wish I would've known,
    But I'm glad I didn't.
    I never knew him 
    Any sicker than he always was.
