I was pretty fucking sure I was moving to New York. Like there wasn't any doubt in my little pea brain. Now I'm sitting here on the couch in the expensive hotel suite we've been calling home for the past three weeks.
We packed up and leased out the apartment before Thanksgiving break was over. This was still a few days before our actual gallery opening took place.
Just pretty and delusional the three of us.
Taylor's voice pulls me from my thoughts, " Movies are alternate realities!"
I turn and look at her through hooded eyes, " Girl.. What!?"
She sits up from the large ottoman she's thrown herself across red eyes excited to explain, " I mean if the universe is endless and there are an infinite amount of possible outcomes, that means movies could be viewed as total truth. And these people exist."
She says pointing to the large screen playing Finding Nemo 2.
"Mind Blown", Comes from the floor behind the couch and then a head of black hair appears at the arm rest.
Hwa Young crawls around and reaches for the discarded plate of fries on the side table
" Very serious stuff", I say with a giggle as Hwa Young flops herself back across the floor, fries in hand
Hwa Young suddenly lifts her head again mouth full, " Wait?! Does that mean there's a universe where Poe from the Covenant is real!?
She reaches out for more fries.
"Hell fucking yeah he is! And the Prince from Ever After", Taylor replies with a sigh
"Well, what a big fuck you to us for putting us in this universe", I say with my face scrunched
"Down with the powers that be and up with horny ladies and their dream men", Hwa Young says loudly while finally just dragging the plate to her spot on the floor
"Right on sister", I echo
After a beat, "Should I give myself an English names like all the rich kids who run to America in K-Dramas do?", Hwa Young says mouth full and facing the TV
" It could be a really cute idea but not if it's because people can't get your name right. Either they take the time to sound it out or leave you the fuck alone", Taylor says eyes on the tv
"Agreed", I say
"Move my feelings face to loved please", Hwa Young replies making a upward motion like she's moving a clip
"But it's really because I'm bored and I want to see how it feels in a new city. Like I'm re-inventing myself. New City, Same Kimchi or whatever. But really I've lived in California most of my life with added long summers in Korea. Which are fantastic by the way! But I want ... no need every part of this trip to feel new. ", she says fully turning towards us both
