"Sorry," he grinned. "I did not--" He couldn't finish his sentence, I spun around on the ground and sneaked a foot behind his legs, making him fall on his butt. "You little bitch."

It started with a small giggle, then we both couldn't stop laughing like maniacs, our attempt to train forgotten, along with my problems.

"Tie?" Soap asked after we were sort of done.

I let him help me up. "I guess."

His eyes went to something behind me. I felt him before I saw him, and just like that, everything came back down crashing over me. When I turned around, Simon Riley stood at the entrance, watching us with dark eyes I couldn't read. They fell to my hand still grasping Soap's. I dropped it like it burned me, feeling like I had been caught doing something that I shouldn't be doing, even though there was nothing wrong with shaking hands with a friend.

"Hey, what's up, mate?" Soap was the one to break the silence, approaching the edge of the mat to pick up his water bottle and taking a long sip from it.

"Price is looking for you." Simon's voice was raspier than usual. He covered it up by clearing his throat.

"Ah, let me guess, my lack of--"

"Don't care."

"Not surprised. See ya later." Soap patted Simon's back on his way out, while I stayed rotted in place and watched him leave. "Bye, bye, princess," he called when he was out of sight.

All of the little air I had, left my lungs and the room with Soap. Simon's eyes narrowed as he frowned under his mask, his stare so strong I could feel it like a caress on my skin. I finally moved to get my bottle--careful not to show that I was sort of panicking under my facade--twisting the cap and taking such a big sip, water dripped down my jaw.

"Princess?" he finally asked what I knew he'd been dying to.

"He's an idiot," I exhaled a shaky breath. What was I worrying about? I had nothing to sweat about because I did nothing wrong, but Simon still made me feel that way.

"An idiot, yet he had you laughing so hard you looked ready to explode." His voice was laced with jealousy, so transparent I picked up on it the second I heard his words. The look in his eyes confirmed he was drowning in a pool of it. "What was so funny anyway?"

"You can't be serious," I scoffed, genuinely shocked.

He came closer to me until I had to tilt my head back to meet his piercing eyes. "Do I have to remind you who--"

"Stop it. You don't have any right to claim anything after what you did." I hated bringing it up, but I just couldn't help it. It was all I could think about when Simon was near.

Every jealousy, rage that was going inside of him, vanished away from his eyes. "You know I did nothing wrong that night except try to protect you."

"And I did nothing wrong but laugh with Soap over something that had no meaning, so why are you acting like this?"

His hand stopped midair on its way to touch me, as if he remembered he should be giving me some time like I asked him to instead of being here. "I am trying to give you the space you asked but it's hard when the first glimpse of you is laughing at something another man said."
