Tonight is the auction, and Connor and I are already late. I wanted us both to look dapper, so yesterday we went out and got tailored black suits, only trouble is, I had no idea how to tie a bow-tie

We spent the last hour googling it

I was able to do his, but when it came to doing mine, it took another 15 minutes, cause I kept trying to pull it through the wrong hole

Connor thought it was the funniest thing in the world

"Oh my goodness!" He giggled "Are you ready yet?"

"Yeah. Yeah" I grumbled as I came out of the bedroom. Our shoes were shined, our bow-ties were tied and our suits were seamless "Already buddy" I checked to make sure I had a blade attached to my back, and my throwing knives under my shirt and jacket. I'm preparing myself for anything tonight "Say goodbye to Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan" I didn't name my kitten Jackie Chan, he did. I tried to change it, but the boy wasn't budging. I actually liked the name Fishbait, but he gets what he wants

Bruce Lee was already at my feet, so Connor bent down and gave him a hug. A black suit covered in dog hair isn't very elegant, but fuck the people who say otherwise. Then he walked up to Jackie Chan, who was relaxing on the kitchen bench, and gave her a good scratch

I grabbed his coat, that matched his black suit, and put it on him "You promise Mummy will be there?" He asked, as I put on my own coat

"I promise kid, now we better go, no doubt Aunty Hannah will be freaking out"

"Aunty Hannah's funny" He laughed

I picked up a briefcase that I'll need for tonight, and grabbed the keys to a brand new BMW I'm giving to Dinah. If everything goes according to plan, she's gonna need it

Once I said goodbye to my fur-babies, we were out the door

"That's good timing" Jade said as she came out of her own apartment. She was wearing a very beautiful Emerald green dress. It reached her feet and had a long split up the side. It was off the shoulder, and she had a stunning gold dragon necklace around her neck

"Wow" I gasped. For a mature woman, she still had it

"You look pretty Aunty Jade" Connor gushed shyly, shuffling nervously on his feet

I'm not sure what it is, but everytime Jade comes around, Connor turns into a shy, blushing little boy

Jade walked up to us, bending down and kissed Connor on his cheek "And you look absolutely gorgeous" She told him, making him turn and bury his face in my leg. My mentor chuckled before standing up straight and giving me a once over "Who knew you had taste"

"I have taste" I scoffed offended

"Besides your Black Rose costume, you sit around in boxers and a singlet" She deadpans "And I designed your costume"

"They're  comfy" I mumble

"Let's get going before Francis and Hannah have an aneurysm" She says as we make our way to the elevator

"They been texting you too?" I sigh

"Every damn second" She groans. When we walk out of the building, I see a few people eyeing us off, especially eyeing Jade's necklace. I pick up Connor, so he's in my one arm and wrap the other arm around my friend "Always so protective" She whispered with a chuckle, leaning into me a bit
