Azrael was not well.

He's been in a coma since the battle. And I've been numb to the core.

Ocean hasn't left Lucas's bedroom. He only leaves once in a while to make sure I've eaten.

"I am keeping your breakfast here, if you need anything, call me."

I hum in response.

"Ocean misses you. She's scared you'll snap at her for not being able to help Azrael earlier."

"Not her fault."

"Neither is it yours."

I hum, knowing there's no point in arguing.

"Esmeray?"

He stays quiet for a minute before sitting down beside me on the bed.

I reach up and run a hand through Azrael's hair.

"He'll wake up. I know he will. He won't leave you."

I don't reply.

"Tell Ocean she does have to scared of me. I hate that."

He takes that as his cue to leave.

"I'll tell her."

He leaves the room.

I kiss Azrael's knuckles.

"Hey, doc. I don't know if you can hear me, but I miss you. I love you. I love you so much. And I just realised that I've never said that before to you."

I pause.

"But it feels right. I do love you. If I had to spend my life with anyone, it'd be you. Please wake up, I miss you."

I wait for a minute as if he'd magically wake up because of some stuff I said.

The doctor comes in for his usual check up.

"Anything?" I ask.

"No, your majesty."

She leaves the room, leaving me alone with him.

I pull out a chair and sit down beside his bed.

I am so tired. I don't know when was the last time that I could sleep well.

I cross my arms on his bed and somehow, slowly drift off into light slumber.

I wake up to the feeling of fingers brushing my hair.

His fingers stir.

"Hey, baby. Are you waking up? Doctor!"

Excitement boils within me.

His eyes flutter open, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Hi, baby."

He looks at me, confused.

My heart stops.

The doctor said he could lose his memories.

His eyebrows relax.

He tries to talk but I think that's hard for him.

"You don't have to say anything."

His fingers flutter again.

I take that as a request to hold his hand, play with fingers, get his brain back to working normal again.

"I am going to call the doctor okay? I'll be right back. You...you don't go anywhere."

His grip on my hand tightens.

"I'll just take a second, baby. I'll be right back."
